annoying pop up on SDMB when accessed on android.

Every time I visit this site on my mobile I get a pop up ad with some you have won nonsense. Unlike on standard browser I’ve no option but to select the ad in order to proceed. No other site I’ve visited on the mobile has had pop ups.

NOT from us. We don’t do popups.

Yes, from the SDMB. I get it occasionally on my Android device as well, when opening a new thread in a new tab on Dolphin Browser. The SDMB may not “do” popups, but your ad company DOES. There are so, so many complaints about the crap that your ad people do. Just admit that you people don’t fucking care.

If it matters I’ve had the same thing happen here, and only here, on my Android phone. Initially, I thought it might be a sneaky push in one of my apps, but double/triple checked that.

There’s no way to close the “pop-up” and you must click to proceed to see what you’ve “won.” As it’s a big fat scam and deceptive to the nth degree, it’s unfortunate my only experience with it has been on sdmb.

Ok from one of your advertising clients.

Same here, I’m using Opera Mobile which thankfully allows me to hit the back button rather than having to go through the ad. Annoying though.

I can confirm this as well, happening only at the SDMB. I feel better that it was only a pop up. I thought I had some kind of virus. After a few instances, I noticed that it only happened when I was trying to read the SDMB.

I get them too. We don’t have internet so I do all of my browsing on my S2. When I get the popups I hit the search button then go back so I’m not clicking on ads. It’s annoying so my time on here decreases with each ad. I use the stock Android browser.

I don’t get a pop up, but I do get a security certificate warning when I browse the SDMB from my android phone.

Not intentionally, but they leak in through the ad servers.

There’s a difference between not caring and caring enough to not run ads.

Please report all pop up ads you see – we’re not supposed to be subjected to them and if they do creep in we have them removed.

We need more than an announcement that you got an ad on your phone. We need details. A screen shot would be nice too.

Just like you don’t do auto-playing audio and video ads, malware serving ads and scam-based “Click here to win an iPad!” ads either?

I don’t have another camera set up but soon as I do I’ll take a pic of the culprit for you.

If you would have said that in post#2 rather than instantly deny it, half of the posts in this thread wouldn’t have been posted.

This is not the first time we’ve had this question on the board.

We’ve had popups and malware before. We probably will see this again. The criminals that do this kind of thing keep on doing it and they infiltrate legitimate ad servers.

We do need reporting of these issues – that’s why we ask you to tell us when you see these things, to send us screen shots, to report the content of the ad and any other identifying information you can give us.

But as an everyday part of doing business, no, we do not accept “rogue ads,” we do not accept popups, we do not accept malware, we do not want ads that autoplay. Sometimes that stuff gets sneaked in and we do our best to eliminate it when we get it, as it gets discovered.

I’ve been getting mobile pop ups from some luckytickets.org lately and I haven’t had this issue with pop ups since I posted back in July. No screenshot.

Yes, I’ve been getting it again, after some months without. No screenie, as my Android is not rooted, and cannot screenshot like an iPhone can.

I didn’t get the page it redirected to but this is the pop up.
