I figure it’s about time to have one. I am pretty much settled in Atlanta at this point and I’d like to play a more active part in the get-together than picking the place and not being able to go.
Having said this, I am also notoriously bad at being an organizer, so I would greatly appreciate another Atlanta doper with slightly more sticktoitiveness making sure this actually works out.
So speak up Atlantans (and anyone else that wants to drop by.) I’d like to meet a few of you and not be the odd man out at this point.
I backed out of the last one. I would like another chance to meet some of you folks. As long as I’m in town (I’ll be out 5.16–>5.21) and have enough notice, count me in.
I’m new around SBMB (at least as a poster) but am a native Atlantan and live in East Atlanta over near Grant Park. I’d love to meet any and all of you fellow locals. Intown, of course…I don’t go outside the Perimeter any more than I have to.
The last meeting (attended by quite a few dopers, but not me) was held at Cafe Intermezzo in Buckhead, so you are safe when it comes to the perimeter. I imagine that would be a good place to do it again. Let a few of the former attendees drop in and make suggestions, and we’ll see if this has a remote chance of happening again.
Let me throw in my vote for the Brandy House on Roswell road, near Piedmont road. It’s not in the ‘hellish’ area of Buckhead, it’s big, not usually too crowded, a very open area that is conducive for large groups of people talking and BS-ing. Of course, since I didn’t go to the last one, I don’t know how much pull I have here…
We could do another soiree, but us “previous attendees” are gonna need some collateral to make sure you no-showing backouters are really gonna go through with it this time. Tuba Diva doesn’t like to play to a small audience, ya know.
BTW - Mouthbreather, don’t forget the buttload of nuns this time.
Funny, Dr. J–I searched for the tread on the old meeting, before Xmas, to see who all was involved. I just read the busload/buttload of nuns thread about an hour ago.
Don’t worry, I got them all locked up, they won’t be interfering this time.
Atlanta dweller here. I also live intown, and being a selfish bastard, would prefer a get-together in Virginia -Highland, or thereabouts. Looks like Buckhead is getting the votes, though. I will be out of town May 9-15.
I would enjoy meeting some of my fellow Dopers (well, except for that low-down carpet-bagging mouthbreather). Yankee scum!

Hey I live in Huntsville Alabama and if you plan in on a weekend I am free and clear I would love to come on down and visit you city-folk.Saturdays are good for me at the end of the month.
E-mail me a time and date when it is figured out and I shall do a bit of arm twisting at work.
As to where in Atlanta I don’t care. I can get lost going to one place as well as any other.
I don’t live anywhere near Atlanta really but it’s only about a five hour drive and I would really like to meet some more Dopers. Maybe I can talk hubby into a small Atlanta vacation…
I live about 2 hours from Atlanta, and might get brave enough to come meet some of you. (Then again, I might just sneak in, hide in a corner, and snicker.)
L5P or East Atlanta Village would also be fine by me.
