Since this is the Pit, I’ll go ahead and say it here instead of threadshitting in the Cafe Society thread: the “talk like a pirate” gag has really worn out its fucking welcome and when I hear someone talking like a pirate I want to shoot them in the face. Me mateys.
And the Somali accent is so hard to get right.
Yeah, it’s like seeing Christmas decorations up from August till February. If people would just observe Talk Like A Pirate Day in accordance with its hallowed tradition, then when September 19 rolled around we could enjoy pirate talk as an annual treat and it wouldn’t lose its freshness. But people who insist on being piratey all the year round spoil it for the rest of us. This is why we can’t have nice things.
(If this thread actually gets successfully derailed into a sustained Pitting of pirate talk, I’ll be really impressed.)

I think he’s linking them by protests; as in, Gandhi’s protests were non-violent; this Pakistani guy’s death was from a violent protest.

Clearly, this Pakistani protestor had a Chinese-made American flag, which is why it was poisonous.

Most of it, yes… but he was shot dead. He’s also kind of a terrible counter-example because he was shot for (purportedly) selling out India… to Pakistan.
