…and more is not necessarily better… but I just have to get it out because my head may explode from the sheer stupidity of Bill O’Reilly’s logic behind flag burning. I paraphrase:
“Imagine you’re one of the 9/11 families and you see some yahoo on the street burning the flag and protesting against the gov’t and yelling how great Ossama Bin Laden is… Wouldn’t you get upset at seeing the flag burned in that manner?”
Fuck you Bill, you disingenuous twat. Your show is waste of public airwaves. You are the anti-matter to coherent and intelligent human thought. You have single handedly undermind any vestige of legitimate conservative thought and ideas.
Shut the fuck up you knee jerk reactionary excrement. Please. Just S.T.F.U.
“Imagine you’re one of the 9/11 families and you see some yahoo on the street burning the flag and protesting against the gov’t and yelling how great Ossama Bin Laden is… Wouldn’t you get upset at seeing the flag burned in that manner?”

Imagine you’re one of the 9/11 families and you see some blowhard TV pundit using your tragedy to make some stupid point tying civil disobedience to terrorism… Wouldn’t you get upset at seeing your loved ones abused in that manner?
For coolness, Scott, you’re the teacher, and I’m the student. You’ve come further in your short time here than I have in my nearly six years. I recall a bombastic and incorrigible proselytizing hard atheist, who hurled insults like Napalm. That character no longer exists, and in its place there has emerged a thoughtful, gregarious, and reasonable hard atheist who is willing to listen. I respect you. You’ve earned it.
I’m not. you don’t see the irony of somehow needing an entire new thread about the flag burning issue just 'cause O’Reilly said something stupid about it? Criminey if we need new threads for every new O’Reilly fuck up we’ll need to triple the pit.
we need to demonstrate how seriously we take 9/11 by pitting every fucking stupid moron who trivializes it by using it to make some political hay? I don’t think so.
9/11 had a serious effect on everyone in the world, IMHO. Constantly using it as bait by every tom, bill and quicksilver trivializes it. we need a new “Godwin” type reference for when the obligatory “If you had lost some one dear to you…” comment that comes around.
Yeah, but the way I see it, there have been endless threads about everything Bush — from Bush’s monkey-ass facial expressions to Bush’s pronunciation of nuclear. At last, SDMB liberals are posting condemnations of actual tyrannies. I feel like I can participate as a peer. For me, it’s greatly refreshing, and I intend to take Janis Jopin’s sage advice: get it while you can.
I’d just like to point out that these actions have nothing to DO with each other.
I am personally opposed to burning the flag under any circumstances, but…
*burning the flag
protesting against government
yelling how great Osama Bin Laden is*
are not mutually intertwined. In fact, they have nothing to do with each other.
And yes, I know you all know this already. I just thought it was worth reiterating.
Disclaimer…I’m an (albeit on the conservative side) liberal, and never listen to Bill O’Reilly. I also never listen to Rush Limbaugh. I have excellent blood pressure, and I aim to keep it that way.
