:smack:
I’ll do my best to watch!
Where’s the “Dopers who tried out for Jeopardy! but got cut” club?
Welcome to the Club, KittenKat! Hope you had fun: win, lose or draw.
Present! I took the test in Los Angeles and failed miserably. But got to keep the cool “Jeopardy” pen that I tested with.
Thanks for all the congrats, and the welcomes to “the Club!”
I had a great time doing the show; I wish I could back and do it again!
Truthfully, I don’t remember what the Jeopardy! people called the things the contestants stand behind, but I was standing on an elevated platform, so the use of podium in my previous post is not altogether incorrect.
SpartanDC mentioned the upcoming online test. For those who are interested, here is a link for registration.
Got cut? No. Just haven’t been called yet.
Go, Kat, go!
Just got done watching. I’ll spoiler-box my comments for the benefit of anybody who’s yet to see it.
Dang!
Sorry you didn’t win, KittenKat, but you are correct that you certainly did not embarrass yourself.
That Jason dude was one tough competitor, and you held your own to the end. You did well in that Kings category (in which I had no clue whatsoever!) and showed a very broad knowledge base and good buzzer management.
My question to the Final Jeopardy answer was exactly the same as yours, so I hope you don’t feel too bad about it. And I saw that movie! Jason builds engines for a living and he’s familiar with human migration theories??? What a freak!
Anyway, just by being on the show you accomplished something most of us never get to, and I applaud you. Hope you had fun!
“Out of Africa.” Really? I still don’t get it.
:)Great job!!!
As opposed to the “Candelabra” theory, which proposed that all the populations of H. erectus in Africa and Asia developed into modern H. sapiens together, instead of being displaced by migrations of modern H. saps from Africa.
At least, that’s what they called it in Science for Dummies back in my day.
Kat. Excellent job. You did yourself proud.
Great job, KittenKat.
I didn’t know the Final Jeopardy! question either.
Way to go, KittenKat! I was right there with ya on the U category =)
It’s just started here - hi, Kat! {waves}
Awww. So close! You did very well (and you’re cute as a button, too! )
I stumbled on this thread during the commercial break - prior to that, I had no stake in the contest, but then…it became personal.
Just finished here on the west coast - you did great.
Excellent job! You did well against a tough competitor.
Ooh, anywhere to watch online?
KittenKat, you and I were at the same taping. Really. My show airs on Friday.
Those of us contestants sitting in the contestant area thought it was a terrible Final Jeopardy, FWIW. I got the answer at about second 28, and wouldn’t have had enough time to write it if I’d been up there with you.
I haven’t see it, but I am impressed anyway. Also with you, GilaB. My mom hasn’t been around here lately but is on the list. Who has the list, anyway?
If by some slim chance I ever a) pass the test, b) pass the interview and c) get The Call, should I ask everybody around me that day if they happen to be Dopers?
Hi, Gila.
Yes, I remember you. How cool that there were two Dopers at that taping; too bad we didn’t know it.
As soon as I read the Final Jeopardy question, I knew the answer was kicking around in my brain somewhere. I also knew that I wasn’t going to be able to retreive it in time. And sure enough, when they revealed Jason’s answer, before Alex had the chance to rule it correct, I was mentally going, “Of course. :smack:”
And let me just take this chance to say “thank you” for the kind words to the rest of you folks who posted. I’m off to bed right now, but I’ll be back tomorrow. Night all.
