Another Doper appears on Jeopardy!

I hope you got someone to record it for you so you have a copy of it yourself. Or does the Jeopardy! staff make you one?

If I may answer for KittenKat:
Nope, we don’t get recordings from the show. I’m actually scrambling to find someone who has a way of permanently recording stuff; my friends and family all have DVRs (or nothing) now. Of course, my show is on a Friday night, when the vast majority of people I know (ie Orthodox Jews) don’t watch TV.

Dammit, I didn’t see this thread until about four hours after the show was aired here.

But you’re on the list, KittenKat. Congratulations!

Just chiming in to say you did a great job—That Final Jeopardy was a brutal one, but you are obviously a smart lady.

Matthew

I don’t watch as regularly as other people. I had it on today, wish I had known / remembered. [I read this thread a few days back]

Was this the one with the Final :

Out Of Africa

I had no clue there. And to be Honest, I didn’t expect that from an engine maker.

If so, that Which King is not like the others would have done me in.

It is no big trick to record off of DVR - I do it all the time. You just need to find someone who has theirs hooked up to a DVD burner.

And KittenKat, you did a damned fine job!
It pissed me off that I could not come up with that final answer! And damn, I am a movie/Oscar junkie and still couldn’t come up with the right answer - for some reason, I had it in my mind that it had to be a one-word answer and kept thinking “Ghandi?!”, “Amadeus?!” “Platoon?!” I would have made a major fool of myself.

You did great, Kat. And you’ve inspired me to take the on-line test.

And for some reason I got the Final Jeopardy answer right away. I don’t recall ever seeing the movie, but I guess the title stuck in my head.

I found this online to gauge how well a person might do on the test by scoring themselves while watching the show.

I regret never trying out for college jeopardy when I was in school, it seems easier.

Fantastic job, KittenKat! I’m very proud of you!

I have to admit that my first thought for Final Jeopardy! was Chariots of Fire, which I conflated with the ultra-mega-woo-woo “Chariots of the Gods”.

I think I thought of Out of Africa with enough time to scribble it out…

Good job, I did not expect Jason to make it to 5 days…he’s sneaky smart.

Hi Cat! {waves back}

Thank you. ::blushes::

You know, we really need to work on a Doper recognition code.

I’m on list?!

Oh, that list!

P.S. Thanks!

Excellent job, KittenKat! For a while there I thought you had the game well in hand, then the champ caught fire. Still it was anybody’s game going into Final.

I had no clue as to the Final Jeopardy answer.

Did anyone make the trip out to LA with you?

I just watched the episode. I DVR Jeopardy! and I have about 20 episodes in my queue. I skipped all of them, just to watch yours!

I’m sorry you didn’t win, I would have done horrible in this show. The "G"eography category would have been easy for me. I even got Gambia. But the others were tough. I guess I would have held my own in the Sports Rivalries, and the “U” category.

I am sure you had fun and will value your experience. Did you do anything specific to prepare?

Yes, I know one can burn from a DVR if one has a DVD burner attached to it. Nobody I’ve asked seems to have that particular conformation of stuff.

OK. The next Jeopardy Doper tug on your right ear.

I think the recognition code should be just screaming, “CECIL ADAMS!” randomly.

OHOH You should have written “14 k o g f p d” as your answer, Kat!

Wow, I’m flattered!

I did have a lot of fun. What did I do to prepare? Not much. I meant to do more, but I’m a major league procrastinator. I bought a book on art/art history because I felt I’m weak in that area, a dictionary of musical terms and composers, and an anthology of poetry, but I never really made any inroads into either of the first two. The poetry book I skimmed through on the trip out to LA. That was about it.
