I was rather surprised to learn that. According to another article I saw, he was a graduate student at UI Champaign-Urbana, as she was. She did mention some emotional issues, but in general he seemed very far from the expected usual pattern of a downtrodden loner.
Maybe there were some academic issues, though that more often leads to suicide.
The Phelps Clan is in this now too. They’re on the schedule, I wonder if they’ll actually show.
It should be noted that the Lott/Mustard studies are highly contentious, with many vocal “debunkers” claiming their methods are flawed and equally vocal “debunkers of the debunkers” claiming the critics’ methods are flawed. The former tend to be over-represented in peer-reviewed academic journals, whereas the latter tend to be over-represented on gun-advocacy websites (go figure).
I’d link to the peer-reviewed papers, except most of them are not free access anyway and I’m too lazy to sort out the ones that are. The not-peer-reviewed stuff on both sides is pretty easy to find by Googling but should be taken with a couple of spoonfuls of salt.

Obviously, they’re well informed:
It’s also good to know that anymore, you don’t even have to do anything to have your funeral picketed. Yeah, those evil college kids … going to class … and …learning.
Every Young Male shooter that has gone on a killing spree in the United States also has a history of treatment of psychotropic drugs. Typically SSRI antidepressants..
These meds have serious side effects, it is not a case of organic random detriments. These people were envirulated by the serious short term and long term side-effects of this dangerous class of drugs.
Darn enturbulation of organic random detriments!
Assertation used as topic statement in a biased article, without backup.
Citation requested that George Jo Hennard was on psychotropic drugs.
Marc Lépine, please. Jeffrey Weise, please.
Joseph Wesbecker was on Prozac, but he was not young, and thus, does not count according to the article.
Colin Ferguson? Kyle Aaron Huff?
