Another movie ID request

The only thing I am semi positive about the movie is there is a scene where the good guy is try to catch up to/stop the bad guy(s) from doing something. I think he basically has to beat the bad guy(s) to court for something.

He gets into a cab and says something (I think involving his predicament) to the foreign looking cab driver. The cab driver says something humorous along the lines of:

“I am studying to be an American Citizen - I know your rights - I will get you to the courthouse on time.”

Other things I think were true about the movie:

  1. I believe it is more than let’s say 7 years old.
  2. I believe it heavily involves police corruption as a major plot point.
  3. I believe there is a scene involving a boombox - one that was possibly set up to surreptiously record something.

I think I only caught the last part of the movie. Anyway - grateful for any help…

Wow - that’s a pretty good guess. I watched the trailer and browsed through the screenplay, and it certainly has a lot of elements in common. I don’t think that is it, because:

  1. I tend to think it was before 2006. I am not sure how messed up my memory is, and I could be wrong
  2. I am pretty sure I would have remembered Bruce Willis, but again - not positive.
  3. Nothing in the trailer even looks remotely familiar.

It certainly is that type of movie. I had never even heard of it - and think I might watch 16 blocks this weekend anyway.
