another origin of question

Watched Jim Carey in The Mask recently. In the scene where he fakes a dramatic death and then accepts an Oscar saying “you love me, you really love me.” Is that based on some particular actor or is he just making it up. Thanks, I’ll be able to sleep tonight

Sally Field, forget the year, said this in her Oscar accpetance speech

'85 oscars, for Places in the Heart, and it was “You like me”, not “love”

The acceptance

(Sally Field - Biography - IMDb):

(just for completeness)

Somehow I knew it was Sally. Seems like some other parody type things have been done with it. Was it really over the top, which other Oscar winners have had major displays, IIRC Halle Berry had a melt down, but I was working and ony caught a slice of it, thanks, I still maybe able to sleep tonight
