Another copy of the SDMB.
Thanks for reporting it.
I’m already aware of this one and reported it to the admins, so they are aware of it.
Would one of y’all enlighten me? I don’t see what the big deal is
In this parallel SDMB, I hope I’m funnier and more popular.
And better looking.
They’re violating copyright. From the Registration Agreement:
Probably would have known that if I’d ever actually read the thing.
You should. It’s a real page-turner.
“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” I guess it’s just so cool to be us.
It also has a functional (i.e., you can type in it and submit information) login box that could potentially be used to harvest passwords.
Is that on the cloned site?
Any idea what the lawyer’s letter on behalf of the other SD suits contains?
Wow, it really IS the whole site. Not just the boards, but the columns and archives, too.
Just out of curiosity what would be the purpose of someone cloning our message board? What is the motivation?
Usually it’s because ads need content to attract visits and page views - and stealing someone else’s content to put your ads alongside is easier than creating your own. Except I didn’t see any ads on the linked clone site, so it could be something more nefarious, like password harvesting.
Yup. Word for word exactly as it is here.
I’m tempted to sign in with a completely fictitious user name and password just to see if it lets me in.
Although on second thought, perhaps that wouldn’t be wise.
It will tell you the admin has banned your IP if you do. It’s going to be real hard to get members if they keep that up.
But not nearly as much as Paige Turner.
I checked out a random thread (something about Jane Goodall in General Questions) and it was 5 years behind. I check another thread to confirm. It showed 2013 posts as the latest posts. Figured if you clone a site you do the whole thing.
