I came across a suspicious "SDMB" site

I actually just wanted to let someone know and give them the address but I didn’t know who or how so I started this thread (I know how to report posts etc., but not how to make a general report).

The website is: https://boards.academicpursuits.us/sdmb/forumdisplay.php?f=15

Not sure how I got there or why… I don’t even know if the site is a problem. I haven’t thought about it. I just wanted to pass the info along.

Those things come up every once in a while. I think they’re machine generated or something, and I’m not sure what the real board can do about them, if anything.

Thanks!
I really like that site.

It’s fitting that the first thread on that site’s ATMB is ‘Another fake SD mirror.’

And that’s their clone of a previous time somebody reported them here.

Yeah–edifying name, too: “Academic Pursuits.” It’s clearly a much more distinguished arena for lofty discussion than this low-brow den of idle chatter here.

I clicked into one of the threads and got a message that said, “The administrator has banned your IP address.”

I clicked on the Register link (I had no intention of registering) and got an agreement that I okayed, and then clicked *next *and got an unformatted page with Cyrillic writing at the top and lots of links with erotic and scatalogical names.

Russian bots, anyone?

And since it popped into my brain:

Send in the Clones

I wonder if their Happy Lendervedder is any better than ours.

A mere shadow of the original, I can assure you.

He’s actually known as “Indifferent” Lendervedder there.

And he has a goatee.

In Soviet Russia, message board clones you.
