As an Obama fan, I’m impressed at the way I saw the latest results presented in the news today. Like a sporting event, something like O has won the last 8 and HC hasn’t won one since last month (figures not necessarily accurate). History suggests that people REALLY like to back a winner, so all the news suggesting O has the big mo shouldn’t hurt him. And next week’s 2 primaries and HC’s staffing issues should only add to the media’s chosen story. At some point this train is going to build up too much speed to be stopped.
Of course, given the past couple of elections, I have to admit that the 1st 4 words of my post should be enough to establish why O WON’T win…
We should also bear in mind that Obama doesn’t necessarily have to win those states outright to keep his delegate lead and enhance his appearance of inevitablility. All he has to do is tighten up those gaps enough to make Hillary’s potential net gain in delegates too negligable to make any difference. Hillary doesn’t just have to win, she has to crush in those states to turn things around. If she wins by single digits, she still loses.
That may be true, and others have posted numbers that make me think it will be very difficult for her to overtake him at this point. However, if she does well enough in Texas and Ohio (and then PA) to stay close to even in delegate count, that may be enough for the Superdelegates to say “Well, it’s pretty much 50/50, so we’re going to go with my preferred candidate” and hand it to Clinton. That is my biggest fear. I believe that for him to really take the nom cleanly, he’s going to have to be a couple hundred ahead so the Supers will be forced to break for him or risk chaos. Such a lead would also prevent the FL and MI controversy from having a last-minute impact.
It’s definitely not over yet, people. A LOT can happen in 3 weeks and I doubt the Clinton campaign is going to bow out without using every ounce of influence they have to turn things in their favor.
True, but one thing we have learned all too well in this primary season, is not to underestimate the Obama campaign. He was underestimated once and look what happened. He delivered like there was no tomorrow. If anyone thinks he’s not going to go full throttle, you’d be wrong. He’s going to and already is making TONS of money and is ramping up his campaigns in all the remaining states. He’s going to make the american people know beyond a shadow of doubt that they made the right choice.
