Y’know what? My guess would be that nearly every poster on this board knows that some percentage of blacks hate whites. Some posters would consider that more foolish racism. Some folks would consider that the natural result of over 300 years of oppression–oppression that only stopped being legal in the lifetime of many of us and that continues (fortunately much reduced) today. A few posters will even decide that blacks are just evil (although they will probably not voice their opinions very loudly).
However, the one thing that you will find repeated, over and over, is that when someone wishes to portray blacks as evil or as “getting away” with so much more racism than whites, a great many of us will recognize that such a broad generalization is simply not true. When such assertions are put forth supported by American Renaissance or VDARE or other blatantly racist web sites, it is liable to make many posters suspicious of the intent behind such claims.
Honestly, all I can say is that I don’t believe you. I think a lot of people interpret situations depending on preconceived views. I just have heard way too many times people who are either openly white supremacists or who post links to white supremacist web cites claiming that they once were liberal on racial matters, but suddenly something horrific happened to them to open their eyes.
It doesn’t pass the smell test to me, and if you went into a black majority environment looking for evidence that everyone hated you, I’m not surprised you think you found it.
I think it was the “fool” thing. Very arrogant-sounding. Look, I’m sorry about your bad experiences. The fact remains that you’ve turned some individual instances into a generalization about all black people, and that’s pretty much the definition of racism. People who haven’t had those experiences and don’t think all black people think alike can see an isolated fight for what it is and don’t see a media coverup.
That is just incredibly stupid.

While your situation sounds horrible, did it not once foster any empathy in you for the number of black or hispanic students in predominantly white schools, predominantly white workplaces, predominantly white governments or predominantly white countries?
But FWIW, I agree that the observations that gytalf2000 made in post 39 are pretty much spot on. However, in my experience these are usually aimed at outisders- I would think that those at all black school would have an affinity for a white who went to their school, but maybe I’m wrong.
Did you even bother reading my post? My exeriences with black people up to graduate school were positve. That is why I enrolled there, and was basically a liberal about race at that point. I found out at TSU that a lot of blacks did not like whites at all. I never said that ALL blacks are sitting around scheming to kill all whites – just that there are blacks that do hate whites.
You know, it would have been different if, when someone was harrassing me for being white, another person had said, “Stop that! Don’t treat him like that!” That would have made a big difference.
One time, one of my fellow grad students called me up after class to apologize for some of the remarks made by the others. It just stuck in my craw that he didn’t have the guts to say anything while I was being verbally attacked.
The time I got shoved down to the floor by the “sasquatch”-sized guy (he shot me a look of pure hatred), NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON said anything, helped me get to my feet, etc. If someone had done so, I would be more likely to pass the incident off as an isolated bullying incident.
It would have made a difference if some of the people I talked with were not so eager to dismiss any and all black-on-white crime as “just desserts”. Some of the students bragged about beating up whites!
Oh well, that is all for now. Perhaps I will write more later…

That’s what I said I don’t believe. I have seen it way too often, when people claim these kind of conversions. Sorry, but that’s my experience, which you are, of course, free to believe or not.

I mean, out of all the people here, you’ve had the most opportunities to say at least something. I’m beginning to suspect you just don’t care about white people.

What does it mean to be a liberal about race? Does it mean you used think it was okay for black and white people to share drinking fountains and lunch counters?
I’m sorry you went through that. The same sort of thing happened to me in elementary school, except they all hated me for no apparent reason.
Keep in mind that not everyone has the guts to stand up to a bully, especially when they’re not the target. It’s a lot easier to stand by and do nothing than it is to interfere and potentially get hurt yourself.

I agree completely with this. In fact, I would go farther. I’m quite sad that in most incidents where black people physically attack white people, the black people usually are not armed, which limits the damage they do in their attack. Sometimes, the black people attack with the benefit of baseball bats or knives or tire irons, and sometimes even firearms, which means their attack on the white people is much more effective. This fills my heart with joy, but given how many more incidents there are where the black people are attacking barehanded, my happiness is fleeting. Really, this would be a perfect world if the black people always enjoyed the advantage of weaponry. Sometimes, I fantasize about setting up a portable sales booth at the edge of black-dominated schoolyards, playgrounds, and neighborhoods, so I can offer brass knuckles, shivs, and zip guns for sale. I would make some money, and black people could attack the shit out of white people. Win win. Of course, I have never actually followed up on this entrepreneurial scheme, because I am neither Chinese nor Jewish. Still, a man can dream.
