We had a nice day today, traveling along the Lincoln Highway in Pennsylvania. I had alot of fun showing TVMan some more of my favorite scenic route.
**
Rosie**, I’m totally jealous. The Melting Pot is a guilty pleasure that I had to give up when the economy and my business started to decline.
Wallflower, my brother got a similar reaction when he told us that he had a girlfriend… he announced it at the table expecting to surprise us and Dad said “well, yeah, your mother told me a month ago, didn’t you met her over Easter at the parish?” He was furious and thought his BFF had told us but no, we’d just read the writing that was on the wall in 6’-tall letters.
Congratulations on having a mother that’s not stupid
Wow db you are up very very early - good luck with inventory.
Went to a Birthday shindig last night and drank several Caipharinhias (sp???) a good time was had.
Up relaxing and being lazy. I am meeting one of the engineers I am responsible for this afternoon for coffee as he is in town and I get to give him his transfer letter for his new job. Then I may wander off to see HP6.
I get to ush this mornin’. That means I need to be to the church house a little earlier for preush duties. Our new Priest is movin’ in, btw. Well, there’s a bunch of boxes in his office. He and his wife are over in Turkey on vacation until sometime, I think, next week. His first Sunday is August 2nd.
Walls amazin’ isn’t it how such big news becomes a nonevent? I’m glad it was all smooth and uneventful. Yay on findin’ somebody to love!
MOOOOOOM I was too busy missin’ ol’ y’all know who (he was gone all week) and callin’ up ATT DSL to have withdrawals. Plus work and the ususal stuff to do around da cave. All in all not so bad, though I did miss y’all. Congrats to FCD!
Yanno what’s worse than one rude awakening in the morning? How about TWO?!?!?
First was about 5 when I was suddenly aware that Taz was on my pillow. Fortunately, he was just sniffing in my ear to see if I was awake, so I moved his butt down and petted him and we eventually fell asleep. Then about 6:30, idiot Scruffy started barking. She wanted OUT! NOW! It is now 7:15-ish. It’s lovely and cool out, so I opened the windows. I think I’ll crawl back in bed and snuggle with my sweetie…
Woo hoo Wallflower, glad to hear that all went well!
Hope that things go well for your new priest, Swampy–and good on you for getting up and going to usher this am.
And yay for Taz being a good boy this morning! LOL Scruffy, on the other hand, needs a bit of adjustment.
I was just reading about the San Fransico zoo penguin love triangle … and think that folks are reading -way- too much into this. But who knew penguin society was so complicated?! Apparently, Linda’s deceased companion had been a higher-up and occupied two burrows, not just one. That’s why they’re calling her the “wealthy widow.” Seriously now! not to detract here, but they are animals. LOL Oh my, I’m going to be stepping on someone’s flippers here, I suspect!! I do apologize. I will simply fall back to my original opinion that too much is being read into it. There. Also, poor Pepper!
All dressed and ready for churchification. All brekkied as well. I cooked even. Bacon and aigs and grits and toast. Go Me!
This afternoon I shall mow. Both my and ol’ y’all know who’s yahd need it bad. Thus both shall be spiffed up. Plus we need to clean up a bunch of tree limbs in his back yahd. The storm that passed through Thursday evenin’ caused some limbs to fall from that biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig oak tree.
Howdy! Back from Cape Cod- we were there a week from last Saturday to yesterday. Weather was beautiful! Best week they’ve had all season.
Our cottage was right on the ocean. You open teh from door and see the ocean, feel the breeze, smell the salt. We had a stormy night and the wind howled over the water, rattling our windows and doors.
We could walk and bike down to ice cream, restaurants, playground etc. We saw Shakespeare on the beach and went geocaching. We saw Ice Age 3 in a drive in.
::Mwah:: to you to swampy have a fun day ushing and mowing.
Yes I am still employed my direct boss told my functional boss to fuck-off-and-die - direct boss is waaaay higher on the food chain so functional boss backed off
Presented said letter to said engineer and said engineer was happy - I am now all wired from the espressos we had so going to tackle my ironing mountain and jam out to my updated i-pod. The neighbours will just have to listen to me sing while I iron.
Couldn’t find a suitable HP6 showing in version original as opposed to version francais near me so I will wait till next weekend.
fcm at least Taz was just sniffing in your ear…could have been a lot worse!
Glad I went back to bed - turned out I was still tired. Didn’t get up till 9:40!!! It felt good to snooze some more.
So, we had pancakes for breakfast, and the dishwasher is going. I’ve got a load of towels in the washer, and I’ll do at least one more load of something, since it’s a nice, dry, sunny day. Other than that, I don’t plan much for today. Maybe I’ll bake a blueberry cake.
According to the long-range forecast, we’ll be in the 70s tomorrow, and low 80s the rest of the week. How glorious for July!! AC is off and windows are open. Life is good.
Congrats on the non-reaction from your folks, Wallflower. It sounds pleasantly anti-climactic.
I’d like to report a missing weekend. I have no idea where it went… how did we get to 2pm Sunday so damned fast?
Here at Casa Muppet, we’re frantically running around getting the place presentable and somewhat childproofed for some dinner guests who are coming over later with their 2 year old son. Dinner tonight shall be homemade tagliatelle with a mushroom cream sauce and veal/pine nut meatballs, followed by a cornmeal-crusted apricot tart. Oh, and a gorgeous bottle of red wine for the grownups (kiddo will get his choice of various juice box flavours).
Fear me, for I am channeling Martha Stewart and am skilled with a whisk.
It’s likely I will gain 5lbs just from eating all those delicious things, but I’ll probably have burned off the equivalent amount from all the frantic preparations.
Off I go to make pastry. Zoooooooooooooooooooooooooooom.
