The Antifa thug that was cracking people in the skull with a bike lock, and subsequently identified by 4chan, has been arrested.
4chan has a goofy forum format, so I can’t find a thread on it over there, but I’m confident they’re celebrating their “weaponized autism” and its latest victory.
Were you this outraged at the Republican candidate for Congress, Greg Gianforte, assaulting a reporter? Or does that not fit the narrative you want to sell?
The bike lock attack was a felony-level assault with a deadly weapon. Gianforte’s crime was a misdemeanor-level simple assault. Do you believe they merit equal levels of outrage? I do not.
I’ve got no problems with Gianforte facing the music for his crime, but it’s not really the subject of this thread. As a final sidebar on the matter, I’ll say this: I certainly don’t think he’s a good representative for the people of Montana, or Republican ideals.
I’d love for you to expand on your line “the narrative you want to sell”. What “narrative” do you believe I’m trying to “sell”?
The interesting part of this story, to me personally, isn’t so much a nutty liberal getting his just desserts (although I certainly find it satisfying), but a private group doing the police’s investigative work for them, and it resulting in an arrest and charges filed.
Hardly unique, but it’s more often coming from civil libertarians of a left-ish bent. By-and-large, leftists haven’t been much into physical violence the last couple-three decades. The influence of Dr. King, etc.
One of the worst things about this forum is the number of posts that boil down to “Well, what about the other side? You’d never be upset if Bernie/Spicer/Lieberman body slammed someone”.
Can’t we just be pissed off at rightie jerks and leftie jerks? And especially Spicey?
Disparaging the handicapped is totally inappropriate regarding bringing this thug to justice. I know that this is a meme but using it in this context just makes the OP sound like a bully.
This strikes me as some particularly infantile pearl-clutching. First off, I don’t see how my OP was “disparaging the handicapped”. 4channers are the heroes of the story in my view. I’m not making fun of them or ‘bullying’ them. Secondly, it’s my understanding that “weaponized autism” is their own preferred label, and that’s something I’ve been trying to be more respectful of lately.
Question for you, Channing Idaho Banks: Do you believe Ben Schreckinger was “disparaging the handicapped” when he used the exact same phrase? In other words, are there innocent / non-disparaging / non-bullying ways to use the phrase, or are any and all uses of the word pairing “weaponized autism” disparaging and bullying in your mind? If it’s the former, could you explain to me how my usage qualifies as disparaging / bullying? (And if it’s the latter, IDGAF anymore)
It also has to be said that for every kitten saved or every bike-lock-wielding thug arrested and getting his just deserts, 4chan has 10 instances of harassment of innocent people “for the lulz”. I find them very distasteful, and often borderline (if not outright) criminal.
I guess that when they do something meritorious it happens more like “in spite of themselves”. A bit like the “broken clock being right twice a day” thing.
