The political violence in the U.S. since the 1960s on has been, overwhelmingly, from the left. The riots are from leftists groups, the 'burn shit and break this it’s because we don’t like the verdict/result of the election/whatever is from leftists groups.
I’ve posted a breakdown of political violence in the U.S., using Wikipedia as source, multiple times on this board. It is always met with a ‘No true scotsman’ response because it is clear that the right is not the cause of political violence in the U.S. at present.
The right has their share of loons. And they tend to be better at killing people (see McVeigh) but there is far less political violence from the right.
In fact, sports related violence is second place after the left.
I’m glad the guy was caught whatever his political leanings may be. Political opinions should be supported by facts, reason, argument and debate, and not violence.
Clearly there are times when physical acts are required to settle political issues, but this was not one of them.
Let’s not discount, however, the 2016 election. Many who voted for Trump did so with the express desire to “throw a hand grenade” to blow up the whole system.
That’s “burn shit and break this” on the largest scale imaginable.
Anyway, I’m glad the caught the asshole with the bike lock.
I first heard the “weaponized” tag in this thread, and I love the idea that a trait that most see as a negative can be used as a weapon.
As soon as someone* develops a Weaponized ADD strike force, I’m in!
*I’d do it, but I already got distra–whoa! A New Zealand rocket thread! Be right back (mayyybe)…
Are these hackers really autistic? It’s a distasteful phrase to use and I won’t be using it. Just because 4chan uses it doesn’t mean that it deserves repeating.
It’s really just crowd sourced investigating. Even if there were autistics in the group I wouldn’t use the phrase.
Perhaps you missed it, but “ANTIFA” is short for “ANTI-FAscist”. They’re essentially extremist anti-Trump leftists. The people who claim that label for themselves often get ridiculed as “ANTI-First-Amendment” by their opponents for their assaults on people expressing viewpoints they disagree with. Trump doesn’t claim the “ANTIFA” label or self-identify as ANTIFA. In fact, he often gets accused of quite the opposite (see running coach’s post, for example).
