The cool thing about the Autotune the News remix is that it adds a third layer of subversion, because it recasts Dodsons’ words as a diss rap. But not as your typical diss rap–yes, Antoine attacks his enemy (“so dumb”, sarcastic use of “homeboy”), but it’s fueled by positive righteous anger rather than mere boasting. An interesting take on an increasingly tired genre.

When I first watched the video, I thought it was mildly amusing. But the more I think about it, the funnier it gets. My sleep was interrupted this morning at 4am and the first thing that popped into my head was Antoine. I totally got a case of the giggles thinking about him. He makes me so happy.
