I haven’t put any thought into where or what we might do, but I was inspired to send out the call. For those who went to DTF, I hope you can groove to the idea of Dope action two weekends in a row. So, anyone?
I might be persuaded. I’m not sure if I’ll have any plans for Saturday or not, but so far, i think I’m free. That and I have my place to myself this weekend, so I might even be able to host something, if agreeable. Maybe a card game or something?
Or were you thinking of a more touristy thingie-ma-bob?
Either way, I’ll probably be game.
I thought some kind of lunch might be good (preferably in the afternoon). As for what else we might do, I recall the last time I was at your place that you had a DVD of some movie that you couldn’t believe I had never seen. “Fight Club,” maybe?
As I said, I’m game. However you realize that you wouldn’t be able to get away with just watching the movie. I’d have to be your personal tour guide to the wonders of the DVD Special Features (Buddha bless that technology).
And … let me be the first to congratulate you on hitting the big 2k, which I imagine you should be doing any second now.
is this an open inviation?
And I’ll already be gone… You know, I’ve been here (here = Emeryville) since TUESDAY and the only thing I did was go to DTF. woodstockbirdybird lives like 10 minutes from where I am. I didn’t know that. I don’t know where you guys live. I don’t know ANYTHING except that I’m leaving in like 12 hours and I didn’t even get to meet everyone.
Damn it all anyway!
THIS IS IT!
I was thinking, as I approached 2000 posts, just how different my life is since I cracked 1000 posts. I wonder what it’ll be like at 3000 … hell, I’ll probably be living in Alaska or something.
As for xcheopis, you betcha, come on down. I didn’t even know you were a BAD, but I’m certainly glad to see our numbers swelling.
I won’t be able to hang out in the afternoon due to the kid, but I have a sitter that night because there is a Sharks game.
I’ll have extra tickets to the game if anyone is up for hockey. I know that I’ll have 2 extra, but could end up having four if my friend doesn’t drive down from Tahoe.
So, is this going to be movies, or a pot-luck (my Key Lime Pie induces thumping), or a picnic, or what?
Well, hanging out at Jack Batty’s and delving into his DVD collection was just the first thing that popped into my head. It’s certainly not set in stone.
Have I ever had Key Lime Pie? I dunno.
I’m free…but you’ll have to come up with something better than watching a movie on TV; I can do that here! Lunch sounds good.
Do you have any lunch ideas? It would need to be a late-ish lunch, because Friday night I think I’m going to stop by Sue Duhnym’s during the latter stages of her little get-together.

Late is ok with me. I tend to like “chain” restaurants since I’m a picky eater and I know what all of them serve already. There’s of course Chevy’s and Uno’s, at the Embarcadero; Rainforest Cafe and TGI Fridays on the Wharf (if anyone was interested in doing the touristy thing.) There’s also a Chevy’s as well as an Olive Garden at Stonestown. As for non-chain places I can remember from when I lived in the Richmond: Gasparre’s on Geary & 20th is good, but I think you can only get wine for a booze, and the Front Room on Clement was amazing but they closed down completely. There’s a Front Room on 9th avenue, but it pales by comparison. (There also used to be one in the area of Hyde and California I think, but I’ve never been to that one.) Maybe one of the Max’s restaurants might be nice? There’s one at Opera Plaza and one on (I think) 3rd street near the MOMA. (And of course, there’s a Chevy’s on 4th street as well.) Not sure which area is easiest for everyone to get to.
Kyla are you with us on THIS one?
Well, Chevy’s at the Embarcadero has worked well before. Would 2 p.m. be acceptable to everyone?
What exactly are you implying? That I might just forg…oh, wait. Never mind.
Anyway, going to Sue’s and anything else depends on the possibility that I might get a car. I have been pondering my need for a new car for a while now, but am finally getting so irritated with my existing vehicle that I want to get a new one like, tomorrow, literally. (I work around the corner from the auto mall, and all the shiny cars are making me crazy.) So we shall see. Unless Demo and Psy are going, they might let me tag along with them.
I’m comfortable with anytime on Saturday.
We got four, it’s looking like we might have a fifth … coolness! Anybody else who wants to climb aboard, climb aboard! You never know … voguevixen might have extra soap for you.
I’m still on board, and able to meet anywhere in the city.
I was, and still am, offering up my place (I’m in the East Bay) as a viable location for something. I was thinking more along the lines of a card game or something, rather than watching movies, but, as I say, I’m game for pretty much anything.
Cool, I was hoping something like this would happen. I’m in San Mateo on business (from London) and have the weekend free. I’ve got a car, but would mass transit be better for getting into the city?
If you do happen to drive, the Embarcadero has a garage where you get a couple hours of free parking if you get validation from the restaurant.
