I was wondering which Dopers share my obsession for those NFL sad sacks, the Detroit Lions.
They are having a typicly tragic offseason and I wonder if others feel my pain.
I am not a lions fan.
I am an Arizona Cards fan.

Yes, 2sense. Sadly, I have had my heart broken by my Lions since I was about 10.
When they had the talent to win it all, they had a ridiculously poor coach (Wayne Fontes, the year the Eagles went ahead 51-7 in that playoff game.)
Then, when they get a coach with a proven track record, the talent declines, or splits (Bye-Bye Barry).
Wait till next millenium!
The only football team that has my loyalty is the Cincinati Bengals.

I am a loyal, dyed in the wool Packer Fan and for most of the 90’s we contributed heavily to the “Keep Wayne Fontes Fund”. That money has now been shifted to the “Keep Denny Green Fund” which also had been the beneficiary of the “Keep Dave Wannestadt Fund”
My fiancee has several relatives in the Great State of Michigan so there is a lot of border banter.
Even though it was good for G.B. I was sad to see Barry go. I would watch Lion games whenever I could because he was/is a “Special” player.
I wouldn’t exactlycall my self a fan. (not out loud anyways) I do however have a very tiny voice in the back of my head that hopes & prays for a decent season from the boys north of Windsor.

Every fucking Thanksgiving since I moved to Michigan, we have to watch the stupid Lions football game. Hello? Who cares? My husband’s family, the former season ticket holders, apparently. So I am left to entertain crotchety 93-year old Nana.
No soft spot in my heart for those losers. I almost started to warm to Charlie Batch but now he is injured again.

Bite your tongue man, I grew up in Nebraska. I like football, and will gladly watch a U-M game. The Lions just feel like a big losing proposition.
Nana, on the other hand, will probably die with some $$.
