I’m good for both this weekend and the 27th. (Yeah, my life is lame like that.) But this week I have to go to a one-year-old’s birthday party between 11 and 1 (yeah, my life is lame like that too) and I was going to offer to watch the kid for a couple hours if the parents wanted to see a movie, or sleep, or cry or something.
Let’s do this this week: Since the Dim Sum place and Max’s are in somewhat the same area we can do the Dim Sum early and Max’s around 5 or so? That way everyone gets to eat/drink/make merry as they wish and the truly debauched among us can do all 3?
The 27th: same thing or something different? (To be honest, I’m sorta jealous of the groups that have a “lunch bunch” or regular meeting time.)
Menudomucho, since you seem to be about the only one who is seriously interested in dim sum, I’ll be happy to show up at the Canton restaurant around noon. Do you (or anyone else) have an interest in seeing the new movie about Burning Man? It’s showing right nearby at the Metreon over on 4[sup]th[/sup]. If you’re not interested in the movie, we could schedule the dim sum for a little later (i.e., ~2:00 PM). Feel free to email me or please post here.
I was thinking of dim sum at noon and the 2:00 PM showing of the movie.

And a big thank you to menudomucho for inspiring this bit of impromptu flashmob (in relaxed Californian time units). There was conversation on every topic and tons of fun on the menu too. As always with dim sum in San Francisco, instead of cable cars to the stars, it was little trolleys to the table full of dumplings and very tasty they were too.
I’m happy to tell all of you in the food trade that our slightly rambunctious party of five tipped a flawless [sup]+[/sup]20% without blinking. The owners left everyone in place for an hour past afternoon closing while all of us brought up our favorite board snippets and ideas. In what proved to be a culinary whirlwind, a quick walk down the block brought us to Max’s diner and even more of the bay area crew. It was a lot of fun to meet some new BADs and see other locals too.
I was obliged to bail out soon thereafter and trot over my friend’s bachelor party in the Metreon complex. We watched La Hoya and Mosley flail away on the mega screen in a boxing decision that (from what I could tell) stunned both corners equally. After wishing my friend (the prospective groom) the best, I decided to get stylin’ and made a run for the barn. An overdrive straight shot down the peninsula got me home in less than an hour.
I just arrived in the Bay area and find I missed a Dopefest by one day! I don’t suppose anyone would be interested in getting together for a drink in the next 2 days? I’m staying at the UC Berkeley campus for 3 nights and leave Wednesday morning.
scr4, I might be tooling up to Bezerkeley on Tuesday. Why don’t you drop me an email and let’s see what happens. I’ll start another microdope thread in MPSIMS for it.
