I just happened to catch an odd “Facts of Fans” from the middle of the first episode of a two-part episode where Eve Plum (aka: the immortal Jan Brady) plays Blair’s sister and wants to become a Sister. The odd thing is that, even though Blair refers to Eve’s character as her sister…and I do not mean as a Nun…Blair says things like “what will your parents say?” Even if Eve’s character is a step-sister, I would have expected Blair’s line to say “what will Mom (or Dad) say?” …as-in whichever parent they still share.
Googling online about Eve Plum’s appearance on this show, the synopsis just says Eve plays Blair’s sister without further explanation…recognizing she wants to become a Sister.
I am hoping some SDopers might be familiar with this episode and clarify, please?
I’m currently watching the series on CHCH’s classic TV block…but it’s still early season 3, so I haven’t reached that episode, yet, but…
Blair’s parents are divorced, and her mother, at least, has remarried multiple times. It’s not entirely clear which parent she lives with when not at school, but she’s clearly closer to her mother, who was a recurring character, so probably her. Meg was, presumably, the daughter of one of Blair’s mother’s later husbands, and close to Blair, but closer to her bio-mom than to Blair’s mom.
I get CHCH too. I should start watching FoL more. I always preferred Jo to Blair, on all levels.*
I remember watching The Facts of Life Goes to France almost 40 years ago. I really enjoyed it, especially how the girls went their separate ways once they’d landed in Paris.
*I’m the kind of guy who also prefers Mary Ann to Ginger, and Bailey to Jennifer.
I used to watch it when I was the same age as the older girls–I graduated from high school at the same time as Jo and Blair. But I haven’t gone back to watch it again as a grown up. My perspective’s probably changed too much.
