Any Furry dopers out there?

This is more outta personal curiosity than anything else–but are there any Furry dopers out there? As in FurryMUCK? As in the Confurence? Further Confusion? The Furmeets?

If so–I can be reached on FurryMUCK as Ashtar–in case there were any other Furry dopers who felt lonely on the boards.

If there are any, this query will get a better response in MPSIMS. I’ll shoot the thread over there for you.

As has been stated before, I have been on FM since late '91 / early '92. I attended both Further Confusions, and the first Anthrocon.

I’m furry enough (sitting here thinking of Minerva Mink), but I’ve never been on a MUCK & don’t know what to do. Do I need to buy software? If not, will being on a MUCK add software to my PC’s permanent memory? ( I share the computer with somebody else.)
PS–Have you heard anything about Jerry Collins? He seems to have vanished from FurryFandom. Is he in jail?

You can get on most MU*'s with simple telnet. Though if you stick around or become a MUzombie (Liiiiivvvveeeesss, weeee neeeed liiivvvveeeessss. ) you would probably want to get an MU client.
There are several available, there is tinyfugue, one of the oldest, it is purely command line driven, and is the primary nix client.
Phoca is a popular windows MU
client, but am not really familiar with it as I use…
Trebuchet, which is a TCL/TK based MU* client. It has the advantage of being system independent, and the disadvantage of requiring one to have TCL/TK installed on the system.

Trebuchet is available at:

It is open source, so is free.

I think Narile just answered yer question.

MUCKing clients generally don’t take up that much space in your computer’s memory. Most of the data being used is after all, just plain text.

If yer ever around–just look for me on FurryMUCK under the name ‘ashtar’.
