I watch a lot of movies on Netflix but I have to wonder if I’m missing out on movies due to my recently watched. Has anyone seen a good one lately. I pretty much watch anything on there, even foreign films.
These are a few that I’ve seen recently that were pretty good.
The Girl…The kid in this movie was something else.
Real Time…with Jay Barachul…They may have taken this off but it was really good.
Joe the King…kind of a funny and sad type of movie.
Missing in America…with Danny Glover, pretty entertaining for what it was.
Rid of Me…kind of a quirky independent film. good on a rainy night type of film.
Extract…with Jason Bateman…it had it’s moments.
Goon…I think it’s one of the best sports movies made.
Warrior…I never thought I would like a movie like this but I think it’s almost as good as Rocky I.
The Shrine…I gotta say the end of this movie really scared me. I remember I kept pausing the movie.
The Last Word…it’s a documentary about a guy who was executed in Texas. all I can say about this, the end of this almost makes me think ghosts are real. This may have been taken off Netflix but you can still watch this on Youtube.
These are some movies that I thought were good that nobody may have heard of, I was kind of hoping that somebody knew of other obscure good movies.
Norwegian Ninja. It’s very loosely based on the story of Arne Treholt, who was convicted of spying for the Russians during the Cold War. Except here, Treholt is leader of the Norwegian Royal Ninjatroppen, fighting the evil CIA.
Thanks, yeah I’ve noticed the Grave Encounter movies but never watched them. Actually I didn’t realize there were two of them. I don’t recall if I saw Absentia, but I know I’ve seen it on my account. I looked up Norweigen Ninja and it sounds like it might be ok, it did get favorable reviews. …thanks for the suggestions.
On Death Row - it’s actually a 4 part TV documentary interviewing death row inmates. Fascinating. And pretty much a movie.
**
In Bruges** - hilarious and the best comedy of the last 10 years. Maybe you have seen it already, though.
•Streets of Fire—Think “The Warriors” meets Great Balls of Fire!, meets Jim Steinman.
•It Happened Here—Alternate history drama about an English nurse’s struggles in Nazi-occupied Britain.
•Fire and Ice—Ralph Bakshi and Frank Frazetta, together at last!
Say, are TV shows and documentaries fair game, too? I’ve got a few obscure picks there, too.
Things that I have seen that I had never heard of:
Mr Nobody starring Jared Leto. Long but interesting. 7.9 on IMDB. The Scapegoat. An adaptation of a Daphne du Maurier novel so very English period piece. 7.2 on IMDB. Mud with Matthew McConaughey which apparently was never on general release in Australia. 7.5 on IMDB. Blackfish about the actual killer killer whale. 8.1 on IMDB.
As a sports fan I love the 30 for 30 series although a lot of them are about people or events that I don’t at all.
I also liked Mud. Take Shelter, the previous film by director Jeff Nichols, is also worth watching. It stars Michael Shannon, who I generally find to be a pretty interesting actor.
