I have seen, lately, a revival and some re-posts asking if there are any celebs posting here.
Reading the many many many replies I hardly recognise any of the name submitted.
So I didn’t read every single post. I was wondering, what are the rumours currently making the rounds that big celebs are posting/lurking. By big I mean people like Prince Charles, GWB, Prince William, Tony Blair (and or his researchers, if he has such a things)

I’m confused - Why start this thread when there are already two active in IMHO asking what celebs post here? Why would you expect this to get any different answers?

I’m guessing that huge celebs are too busy being huge celebs to spend a lot of time on the SDMB.
Even if there are any among our number, they probably wouldn’t reveal it – they’d be losing the anonymity that’s probably part of the charm of being here, and most everybody would think they were lying anyway.
Huh? Lobsang, your answer has nothing to do with the question. If there were “celebrities” here and they wished everyone to know that, don’t ya think they’d have posted in one, or both, of those active threads? I fail to see why a third thread is necessary and what it is you think can be accomplished in it that cannot be accomplished in either of the other two in IMHO.
Well, I think that Lobsang’s question could definitely have been clearer, but he’s not asking celebrities to reveal themselves; he’s asking about rumors of celebrities.
Like when someone on the board says, “I saw a dog walking backward yesterday.” Then a year later someone on The Ronco Magic Kitchen Hour says something about a dog walking backward. People conclude that Ron Popeil is actively monitoring the boards, and rumors get started.
I’ve seen this kind of thing before, but I don’t remember any specific examples. Lobsang is asking for specific examples.
Here is the point - I did not recognise any of the people in the existing threads, they were, what’s the phrase ‘b-list’?
So I wanted to know if there was a rumour amongst long-established dopers that someone really famous posts here under a psuedowatsit?
And I put it in this forum because A) it’s about the boards, and B) I was under the impression that redundant threads were tolerated here.

Just my opinion, but I think that any person who personally identifies a fellow member by his/her real name or by hints to that name without the person’s express consent or the person’s having done it him/herself in the past should be summarily banned.
In the category of “revealed” celebrities, The Bad Astronomer posts here on occasion. He’s a celeb to me.
I used to be part of a slapstick comedy trio back when filming in black and white was still fairly commonplace.
More recently I got a gig as an animated bartender on a fairly successful show on FOX.

There have been a few cases of a (purported) celebrity registering long enough to make a one or two post correction to something said about him or her in a Cecil column. Durned if I can remember any of them, though.
I understand that. It still doesn’t explain why you think you’ll get results here that differ from those other two threads.
