Any interest in a multi-player NWN 2 game?

Huh. I could have sworn I had installed NWN 2 on my new computer, but clearly I did not.

Off to find the discs, and see what the world’s been up to.

Hope you guys are still doing this and have room for another when I get done.

It’s Tomb of Horrors man, countless adventurers have met their doom in those halls! The more the better

Note to group: Devlin the Locksmith does not guarantee to find 100% of all traps, nor do his services include the carrying of dead bodies for a proper burial.

Well, count me in for next weekend, then. I’ll take wizard/sorcerer if that’s okay. What difficulty? When I played through the main campaign, I ended up turning off friendly fire, because planning your fireballs in realtime is a pain. Whether or not I get to just nuke the area will change what spells I take, so let me know.

Oh, before I forget, I’m running the Mac version, which only goes up to 1.12. So we may have connection issues if everyone else has 1.13. I’ll do some digging and see if there’s a better way than rolling all the PCs back, but FYI, could be a problem.

Wait, 1.12? or 1.21? PC is up to 1.21 I’m using the 1.22 beta, but I can easily roll back to 1.21.

1.12.1295 As far as I can tell, that’s the last patch they made for Mac. There’s a patch from 1.11 to 1.12 that’s supposed to work, but it seems kind of shitty to make everyone else rollback just to play with me…

I installed it last night and did a lot of patching. I have none of the expansions, and need to do some playing to get used to it again. Am I recalling correctly that in multiplayer there is no pausing? I get addicted to that in single-player.

This weekend is double XP in City of Heroes, so I have promised Dangerosa most if not all of my game time. My apologies. After this, I should be able to make time.

What would be a good character to bring along? Seems like Rogue and something in a spellcaster are taken. I’m good with either Ranger or Cleric…

I think, but I’m not sure, that whomever sets up the game in multiplayer can give themselves the power to pause.

Also, I want to mention that the earlier we pick a day/time the better, because my weekends (and weekdays) are usually pretty busy. I’m on the west coast.

Edit: Oh yeah, and I’m Kidscruffy on xfire.

Good idea, how does Saturday 7 or 7:30 pm EST sound?

I’m flexible though so same time on sunday, or an hour or two up or down is fine with me.

I could also do it in the morning, but I figure that’s when everyone is doing chore/runnign errands/relaxing.

Let me know, and please mentione whether you’ll eb able to make this weekend or not, and if next weekend is an option as well.

Saturday at 7-ish pm is good with me, and I can make it this weekend.

Hmm… it sounds like we have some volunteers for rogue, so should I just roll up a fighter or monk?

Saturday at 7 works for me, or a little earlier/later. Next weekend too, with advance notice.

That time should be fine, but I’ll have a definite yes/no first thing in the morning.

The following weekend would have to be Sunday for me, got plans on Saturday.

Q: Is this game open to all?
What lev characters?
Item level restrictions: yea or nay?
will it be a password protected game? (I take it you’d email out the password beforehand)
Are you posting it on Action, Roleplay, Story, or another section?
Under what name will the server be?

To quote the Tijuana Brass: “Questions, questions. I’m all horns…”

Definitely not open to all – only open to those with a healthy lust for treasure and no fear of dying…and being dismembered…repeatedly…while acid melts your face…

I think the recommendation is level 9 for 6 character, level 10 for 5, and level 11 for 4. I’m not sure how many there are so far, but I wouldn’t mind starting at level 9 regardless.
I don’t have a preference for item level restrictions.
I do like the realism of friendly-fire, but I don’t care all that much.
Not sure about the other questions.

I can definitely play Saturday at 7pm Eastern.
I have no idea what version of the game I have – should I just patch up to the latest?

Yeah, everyone please patch up to the latest version which is 1.21. There is a 1.22 beta, but we won’t go there.

It’s official 7:00 pm EST this Saturday.

Who is playing so far:

Kinthalis - I’ll fill in any niche we might need to cover.
KidScruffy - no class yet
Runcible spoon - no class yet
Omi No Kami - fighter or monk

Next weekend maybe: Braniac 4

FAQ:

  • I’ll have the server up starting at 6:00 pm EST game night. Feel free to pop in and equip yourself. I might be there I might not, just please don’t venture into the Tomb without the rest of us. We’ll begin the play through at 7:00pm.

  • I’ll post up the server password here on the forums on game day. Anyone is welcome to come, even if we aren’t expecting you

  • Server name will like be SDMB

  • No item level restrictions. We’re all going to level up and equip IN the module so all of our equipment will be from Tomb of Horrors. No outside equipment, please.

  • We’ll finish up rounding out the party on game day. If have a need for a particular class, we’ll shuffle around or I might fill in that role.

  • We’ll be using Xfire for voice over IP chat. Try and set some time aside to make sure your settings and headset are ready for game day. Headset and mic aren’t obligatory, but it’s definitely nice to be able to quickly communicate so if you don’t have a head set, try and pick up a cheap one!

  • Let’s add one another to our xfire friend’s list: I’m I’m kinthalisthornblade (nick name kinthalis) and KidScruffy is Kidscruffy on xfire. Add us to your friend’s list!

  • We may not be able to complete the module in one go. No probs if that happens, we’ll schedule another day on the following weekend probably Sunday. New players are welcomed then too!
The more the merrier, so if you want to join us, don’t be shy, post!

Oh, sorry, you can put me down as a rogue definitely. No one else need put a single point into search, spot, open locks, listen, or lore if they don’t want to.

Unfortunately, I can’t patch up to 1.21, on account of it doesn’t exist for Mac. So, I can only play if you all want to roll back to 1.12. Sorry about that. If so, however, put me down for wizard (or sorcerer, I need to brush up on spell tables). No worries if not, it sounds like you have to run an out-of-date manual patch, which may or may not work.

I think the gold edition of nwn 2 jumps you up to 1.19, so there’s no way for me to even go back to 1.12 :frowning:

You don’ t happen to have a copy of XP and bootcamp handy do you? I have an extra copy of all three games (In the hopes my SO would play but alas…) I’d be willing to share them with you as no one else is playing that copy.

Damn half-hearted mac ports!

To everyone playing tomorrow night: we won’t be getting the auto downloader for multi-player file sharing until next patch, so for now, remember that all of you NEED to have the module downloaded and in your “My documents/NWN 2/Modules” directory. Here’s a direct link to the Tomb of Horrors mod: Neverwinter Nights Guide - IGN

Hrm. Well, I do have Leopard, but I don’t have a windows partition set up. I don’t think I’ll be able to get that up and running for tomorrow. I might be available for next weekend, but I think you’ll have to go on without me. I’d say save yourselves, but, you know, Tomb of Horrors.

Alrighty, I don’t think we have any dedicated tanks, so I’ll make a fighter instead of a monk… I don’t have much experience with ToH beyond its instant and repeated lethality, though, so I’m wondering what kind of fighter I should roll? Do we need someone to take attention away from the party and hold it long enough for the casters and rogues to do their thing, or am I making a consistent source of decent melee damage?
