Any interest in a multi-player NWN 2 game?

Oh, I just registered on Xfire; my account name is ominokami.

Oh sure. Until you die horribly because stepping on that flagstone teleports you to the Negative Energy plane, just because :D. Or until the dragon polymorphed as a squirrel disintegrates you, your ancestors and your children to the 7th generation. It’s called the Tomb of Horrors for a reason. Bad juju and instant unavoidable death happens in there, most often because you chose the wrong door out of 9 with absolutely no indication which one may be the right or even that there were right and wrong doors in the first place :p.

A fighter with some decent damage sink abilities would be good Omi

I’ll be either a sorcerer or cleric, depending on our needs then.

Ok I created my character I went for a cleric (5)/Doomguide (3).

I pretty much heal and slay undead, I suck at anything else, hopefully you guys can round out the party.

I’m leaving the server up in case anyone wants to experiment with builds. Local characters are allowed.

Make sure you export your character before logging off!

We’re going to need raise dead scrolls like there’s no tomorrow. I suggest everyone purchase at least 1 if not 2.

Alright, I ended up making a pure Barbarian; I figure he’s nearly as survivable as the fighter, and with the poor starting equipment, likely to be more useful.

The fair adventurers did not fair so well in their first expedition into the tomb Of Horrors. Pretty much ignoring the warnings and crazy mutterings of it’s creator we went forth and… died. A lot.

But thanks to our smarter than the average barbarian team mate and the sharp eyes of our rogue we’re finally making some headway.

Unless plans change, next meet will be Sunday around 7:00 pm.

Great game tonight guys!

Yea, great game everyone; that was a lot of fun.

Good god if it wasn’t unfair, but that’s how ToH is supposed to run.

Just as an update, in the game I “died”. I couldn’t get my character to climb down the pit trap, so I went forward. There was a satanic mask and it looked like our fallen comrade was behind it. I activated the mask and was transported to a trap room with 3 levers. No matter which lever I pulled, two level 20 demons from the lower planes appeared and proceeded to rend me to bits.

Should you ever make it to that trap room, feel free to loot my corpse; but if the demons those levers summoned are still there, you might find yourself busy very quickly.

Also, I gave myself two chances. After ‘dying’ the second time, I realized that to re-spawn was ‘cheating’ and would ruin the game for the rest of you.

Best wishes from a fallen party member…!

We all had to respawn a few times, I’m not sure the module can be played in ‘hardcore’ mode. We used our rez scrolls when possible, but there were some full-party wipes too.
And not all deaths+respawn resulted in inventory being wiped clean.

Anyhow, we’re still looking for some masochists for the second round…

It sounds like you guys had fun. For certain values of “fun.”

Well, after much wrangling, I have XP installed, so count me in for reinforcements. Who all played, and what classes? Who survived? Do we get a play-by-play?

Omi no Kami - Barbarian
KidScruffy - Rogue
Kinthalis - Cleric/Doomguide
Some unwitting NPCs: meat for the grinder
Count Blutcher - Part-time arcane archer

Having gathered and equipped themselves with the best cardboard and paper-mache equipment available, the brave 9th-ish level group of PCs set out towards the entrance to the tomb.

Luckily, we realized that we were actually walking towards the fake entrance, the one that’s made up of 100% all-natural wheat and inevitable dismemberment. Having adjusted our course, we found the real entrance and made use of it.

Upon entering the abode we found ourselves faced with a long, wide hall studded with statues great and small.

“Screw this,” said the barbarian, abandoning his position at the head of the party, “I’m not going anywhere until the rogue tells me that it’s safe.”

The aforementioned rogue did thus make short work of the hall, darting forward in search of traps.

…and promptly triggered a trap door that dumped him into a pit.

The barbarian, in the absence of any better plan, jumped down after him in hopes of guiding the fellow out.

…and quickly learned that two ninth level characters really, really shouldn’t wander around labyrinths filled with undead, as both he and the rogue were quickly and thoroughly wiped out by roving bands of warrior zombies.

I’m hazy on the exact sequence after that… would someone else care to jump in?

… And so the doomed brigade of heroes stumbled unto a great hall. Arranged along it’s walls were mysterious doors of gold, silver, iron and stranger metals.

“I say we try them in clock wise order” suggested the rogue glancing at the first golden door covetously.

“Sounds good to me” Replied the cleric, still nursing a wound from the last undead ambush.

Each touched the door in turn and vanished.

… and promptly appeared in a room with three towering demons. The sulphur and brimstone in the air was overpowering.

“eh, I think we should have started at the other end of the hall.” - The barbarian.

“You’re not going to blame me now, are you?” - The rogue.

“Are those bibs they have on?” - The cleric.

Ok guys are you guys ready for another crack at ye old tomb?!

Next meet will be 7:00 pm EST on Sunday.

runcible spoon how are you set up for this time around?

I have XP installed now. I can probably, ah, get my hands on some install discs, but I’m assuming I’ll need legit serials to play…?

Anyways, I’m in for an Arcane caster.

I’m definitely up for some savagery.

Runcible, PM me your email and I’ll hook you up. Make sure to download the gold edition if you can

Okay, I have xfire set up and sent out friend invites to kinthalis, kidscruffy and ominokami.

Also have the module downloaded. Now to make sure it all works… and remember how to play NWN 2. So different from CoX and Fallout 3…

Bad news, it looks like I’m not going to be able to make it. :frowning:

The NPC fighter should give you all the tanking you need, and the walkthrough I was using to figure out where we were headed can be found at Neverwinter Nights Guide - IGN .

So… testing it out, I got my sorceror set up, with his moderatly crappy stuff, picked up all of the NPCs, and headed in.

First room: warrior zombie attack. Okay, we lost the familiar and the animal companion, used up some potions, but survived. We’re learning.

Put the rogue in front, turn on detect traps, and what’s this? Ah, a deadly fire trap! Time to disarm it. Oops, critical fail! 90 damage! Complete party wipe!

Yeah, that’s Tomb of Horrors all right.

I think I will suck mightily as a spellcaster in NWN 2 in real-time. Most of my play experience has involved frequent pausing to select spells and line things up. With Fireball and Lightning Bolt, I’m likely to do about as much damage to friends as to foes.

So, since runcible spoon is going arcane caster, you’ll find me backing away from it slowly. Another cleric, perhaps, with all the undead?
