Has Neverwinter Nights 2's multiplayer improved?

When NWN2 was released, the multiplayer was pretty crappy. I think it eventually got to the point where we had constant CTD’s just trying to get it to run. In disgust, we gave up on it.

But I would love to try it again when I get some free time. Has the multiplayer improved since then?

Bumping this in the hopes of a reply or two.

Never played the multiplayer. You’ve got me wondering, though, because the game had potential to be beefy.

I’ve seen a lot of persistent worlds go up. I don’t do nwn 2 multi-player though, so I would check the vault (nwvault.ign.com) for a list. The same impediments to a smooth multi-player game remain: you need to find a persistent world and download a large file before you can join the server (and that’s if they are not using custom content. If they are the file is going to be super huge). Multi-player stability has improved however. The latest patch solved some problems,a nd gave the DM client some more useful stuff.

I don’t think there are many NWN 2 games over at nwconnections.com

A new expansion is coming out this holiday season, hopefully that will bring in more multi-player gamers.

Is this okay for a 2-player LAN? What scenarios would you recommend for such a player load?
[First level newbs too I’ll point out]

That’s how we were attempting to play it. I’m not interested in a persistent world, but if multiplayer has been stabilized overall, it might be worth trying it again.

Thanks for your responses, guys. I’m going to upgrade my machine before I install anything new on it, but I think I’ll make it one of my installs when I rebuild.

Multi-player over a LAN should be no problem. I think most of the stability problems related to playing over the internet. Regardless, stability fixes have really smoothed out things.

I’d recommend going over to the vault and playing through the top rated adventure mods. My personal recommendations for 2 to 4 players over LAN would be: Tomb Of Horrors, Night Howls in Nestlehaven, Tragedy In Tragidor and Poool Of Radiance Remastered.

I’ve never played multi-player and have only just picked up on NWN2 recently (I like to let things get well-patched before playing) but man, I’m really enjoying single play.

I love the story, the way it twists and slowly unfolds, and I love the characterisation.

The dwarf who wants to become a monk because he gets to do nothing but learn how to kick crap out of people all day.

The terminally jealous teenage demon thief. Brilliant.

Cool, thanks for the recommendations!
