Any interest in doing an NFL Playoffs fantasy draft?

I dunno. I’ll try, but I can’t guarantee it.

2pm should work for me.

Meanwhile, everyone should join the FF Playoff Challenge.

I’ll try to be there. Looks like that will be 12 Mountain time for me. I have a lot of errands to get done tomorrow to free myself up for the playoffs, but I will try to be there.

Is there a league to join?

Nope, we’d just be doing it in the thread with whoever is around - up to some manageable max number, probably 6.

Varlos is running the thing so I’ll defer to him as to how he’ll pick who gets in and who gets out, but I’m sure stating now that you’ll be available in that time period and that you’re interested wouldn’t hurt.

I hate to do this, but I think I’m going to have to bow out – real life keeps getting in the way of my fantasy gaming lately (which is pretty unusual for me). I really hope we don’t come up one short of a viable league, in which case I pretty much screwed you guys.

Hopefully you’ll have a good draft without me. Sorry.

I suppose we could do it with as little as 4 and still have it be interesting. We’ve got 3 yes (SenorBeef, Ellis Dee, dale42j) and Hamlet will try. If you’re interested, post here that you’ll be here and start checking the thread in about 2 hours. If you said you’d maybe/probably be here, then please post somewhere around like 1:45 eastern to confirm that you’re here. I’ll try to get a draft order going at 2. If we’re doing a general points competition rather than head to head, we can have odd numbers of people.

Can’t make the draft, too many errands to do, and I’m on my way out the door now. Bummer, and I blame myself for not posting earlier this week asking about it…

Just replied to the thread in order to further pimp Ellis Dee’s FF playoff challenge on nfl.com.

I’m off to the gym, but I’ll be back around 1:45 Eastern or so.

I can make it if there’s still an open spot.

Okay, here’s a draft sheet of basically every draftable player for the entire league. There is virtually no judgement on my part in this. Instead, all players are listed alphabetically by team abbreviation. I identified the players by going to the official team home pages and checking their depth chart. Of the players listed as active on those depth charts, I ordered them by who was the most productive this year according to profootballreference. The only judgement call I recall making is putting Reggie Bush on the list instead of Mike Bell.

Copy & Paste the following to notepad, print it out, and cross off the names as they get drafted so you know who is still available.

After playing around with it I found the following settings work well:

Font: Lucinda Console 12
Orientation: Landscape
Left/Right Margin: 1"
Top/Bottom Margin: 0.3"

I also have a spreadsheet version that prints out a little nicer. I attached it to a post in a programming forum I frequent that allows attachments. You can download it here.

EDIT: Ugh, of course the big post happened to be the last post on the previous page. Be sure to read post 50 on the first page.

Thanks for the list.

Alright. We’ve got me, Ellis Dee, RNATB, probably dale42j, and probably Hamlet. If anyone else wants to sign up in the next 15 minutes, please do. Can the last two mentioned confirm they’ll be around?

We’ll do serpentine. I’ll quickly randomly determine draft order at 2pm. Then you just post when it’s your time to draft, select a player and confirm that no one has selected him before. Please use a full name and correct spelling so that, if necesary, people can search for the player’s name to confirm that no one has drafted him.

Rosters are QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, K, DEF. Make sure you fill them out exactly like this, no bench. If you screw up by drafting a player already drafted, and not having time to correct it because the draft has moved on a few places past you or by drafting the wrong positions, that falls on you and you’ll just get 0 score for whatever position isn’t properly filled out.

Thanks Ellis, that will be a big help.

I should be here for the draft. I suggest we do draft order based on the “Most Shakespearean screenname” to “Least Shakespearean screenname.” It seems only fair.

I am here and ready to draft.

dalej isn’t really a shakespearean name, but you could do worse, like say … Senor Beef or Ellis Dee. You can draft 2nd.

Okay, I just put the names in a list and then got a random sequence from random.org to set a draft order.

  1. Ellis Dee
  2. SenorBeef
  3. Hamlet
  4. RNATB
  5. Dalej42

And then serpentine
6) Dalej42
7) RNATB
8) Hamlet
9) SenorBeef
10) Ellis Dee

And back to Ellis Dee, SenorBeef, etc.

The players with the end slots feel free to make 2 selections at a time with your posts.

On the clock: Ellis Dee.

Sorry for the delay…

#1 Aaron Rodgers

#2 Drew Brees

Hamlet is up.

Also, I say anyone who posts before the first round is finished is welcome to join, added to the end of the order on a first come first serve basis.

Quick question, there is no redraft correct. Total points for the entire playoffs correct?

If so, give me Adrian Peterson.
