Any love for Big Bang Theory here?

I’m thinking of the episode where Sheldon hires some out of work actor to pretend to be his crack-addicted cousin. He provided an intervention as an excuse to get Leonard out of town so he wouldn’t have to hear Penny sing. Was there another one?

I’m talking about the season premiere this year. After their first date, Penny meets Sheldon in the laundry room, asks him if Leonard has ever dated girls who aren’t ‘really brainy’, and then retroactively swears him to secrecy that she lied to him about finishing junior college.

Oh, that one. Well, he does eventually tell Leonard, doesn’t he. Sheldon has a problem with lying…I wonder if that has to do with his general social ineptness…not understanding when to turn on the filter between his brain and his mouth.

[Sheldon]Filter? Why would I have a filter put into the vicinity of my bony palate??[/Sheldon]

Also, I enjoyed the joke of naming the roomates Sheldon and Leonard.

I am beginning to have an enormous crush on her, and that scene didn’t hurt.:smiley:

OK. . .you have out-referenced me. You win teh internets. Now. . .WHAT joke?

“Examining perturbative amplitudes in n = 4 supersymmetric theories leading to a reexamination of the ultraviolet properties of multi-loop n = 8 supergravity using modern twistor theory.” Can’t say that five times fast?

Homage.

Grazie. Now I can sleep

In the TV Guide for the week of November 3rd, “Is It Just Me?” asks “Does Big Bang Have The Best Theme Song?”

Yes. Yes it does.

I was mad at my Tivo because I sat down at 8:30 on Monday to watch BBT and it hadn’t recorded it. Which is unusual because it never misses unless sports or some special report is involved.

Later after complaining on the Tivo forums I found out it was a rerun from last season, and my Season Pass wasn’t set up to record reruns. :smack:

Okay, new ep last night!

Once again Sheldon seems to be getting all the plots, but he’s funny enough that I can’t bring myself to mind. I loved:

  • Both cafeteria scenes, especially the wide-eyed disbelief on his friends’ faces the second time as the whole crazy thing starts to play out all over again, and brilliant Doctor Cooper can’t seem to look beyond the short-term benefits of adoration and food, and realize that the whole thing played out rather badly last time.
  • Penny’s astonishment that a girl is actually coming to see Sheldon, and the whole reluctanct of the ‘viewing gallery’ to leave.
  • The halo struggle and Sheldon’s rapid-fire series of clauses to his friendship with Leonard that he invokes in attempt to get rid of his keeper.
  • How he suddenly knows exactly to tell her where to go when she asks for credit on his work!

Possibly a good missed opportunity - Howard thinks ahead far enough ahead to place a camera in the apartment, so that he, Raj, and Penny can spy on Sheldon huddled around a laptop screen after Leonard kicks them all out.

The shirt that Leslie Winkle was wearing were very cool. Anyone else notice Sheldon’s “Shazam” socks in the one scene?

Both groupies were redheads.

Best part of the show for me was when Penny asked what Sheldon’s “thing” was.

I just loved the scenes with ‘Be My Yoko Ono’ playing. What a perfect choice of song to use.

Penny was pretty good in this episode. I liked the way she shuddered at the thought of Sheldon having a girlfriend. “Holy crap on a cracker!”

Wonderful episode, but I fear this is turning into a one-man show, with Sheldon being the loon and everyone else hovering around him.

IIRC last season, Leonard had some good goofy plots, and even Raj got set up with an Indian dentist by his parents.

I love Sheldon’s cluelessness, but let the others have a shot too, mmmkay?

It could have been cute if the second adoring fan had been a guy, and Sheldon were equally seduced by adoration and free food.

And did not even know her surname after all that time together.

Perfect Sheldon moment.
