Any love for Big Bang Theory here?

I thought the same thing.
I also though it didn’t really fit Sheldon’s character to let the redhead change all his habits, although she did justify it for science I suppose.

I don’t think that was so bad a fit. It wasn’t like she was getting him to try something new, (which can be downright impossible,) but presenting an argument that makes sense to at least half of Sheldon’s brain for why he shouldn’t keep doing the fun stuff.

Also, she’s a forceful personality in a way that most of his friends aren’t, and somewhat reminiscent of his mom.

Oh, yes! I wholeheartedly agree! That would have messed with Penny’s “What’s his deal?” too!

Speaking of Penny, I like how they’re handling her character now. Season 1 she was a dumb blond who was cool and was always bewildered at the nerds. Now she seems more like one of the gang, in her own way.

Yep, it’s more comfortable, the guys are no longer amazed at having a woman hanging out with them.

My brother got me to watch the DVD of the first season, and I fell in love with the show; now I’m not watching it on broadcast because I want to see it all in order, so I’ll have to wait for Season Two DVDs. Is that geeky in itself?

I don’t like how they ended the relationship between Leonard and Penny. Last year Leonard was mesmorized by Penny and did everything he could to get a date. When they he did get a date at the end of the season there was chemistry between the two of them. Then at the beginning of the next season Penny seems to break things off because she feels uncomfortable having much less education than Leonard. Fine so far.

This season there has been little to no reaction from Leonard that he is not dating Penny. He is not jealous that she is still dating others and they just seem to be friends. He is no longer chasing her and the whole situation does not ring true.

Here’s to hoping the writers are going to address it later on, possibly in the form of Leonard’s suppressing his jealousy/disappoint in some form of comedic psychosomatic reaction.

In reality, they’d be better off being friends for a while anyway, Penny needs time to fully acclimate to Leonard’s lifestyle, and vice versa.

I just saw this show for the first time last night. Is it always like that, i.e. great Barenaked Ladies music, and geeky humor that makes me laugh, but also sort of depresssingly aware of my own pathetic social skills?

Yeah that’s basically it. But keep watching, the characters do grow in their social skills, without giving up their interests.

What if that was a new episode I saw? If I see an old episode now I’ll think they’re regressing into a life of endless Doctor Who marathons and World of Warcraft tournaments.

On the other hand, if one of them gets a date before I do, I’ll be forced to climb into a tub of Ben & Jerry’s and close the lid.

Love love love this show. The whole family watches – in our house, that’s a miracle.

Recently, I love the fact that after Penny calls Howard on all his sexual comments and punches him out for trying to kiss her, the last couple of episodes he really has toned it down. Nice bit of realism/continuity.

I will say, after that Kripke made those really off-base comments to her, Howard’s “Bet I’m not looking so bad now” aside to her almost made her laugh (IRL, I think they had to do that scene several takes before they could find one they could use…)

Finally, I am the newest member of the cult of Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock!

That was the episode I saw. Barenaked Ladies are part of the vast “Be My Yoko” conspiracy.

I think the episode you saw was from last fall.

Everyone got lucky last season, except Sheldon. Unless Sheldon has some secret life we don’t know about. He seems to be asexual.

Sigh. Can somebody lend me a really big spoon?

Well it is fiction. The first season is well worth watching. The guys are really nervous about Penny when she first moves in. They really adjust faster than I think would be realistic, at least from what we see in the 20-minute slices each week.

I just saw my first episode of this Wednesday night – the one where they’re trying to get the money from Penny’s ex.

Yeah, wow, I know those guys. I do know a Sheldon, too, if Sheldon got involved in politics.

excellent doublepost!

Yep. Raj can actually talk to Penny now! (Granted, it was only once, but he did do it.)
