any lurkers in here?

:::slowly steps out of shadows:::

I’ve lurked for a loooooonnnng time. Way back in the summer of '99, I clicked on a link over at Snopes, arrived here, read a thread involving a certain little known poster named Phaedrus (and his ‘evidence’), and have been here ever since.

And I have a post count of 2 (well, 3 now). I suppose that officially qualifies me for lurker status. hee hee

:::hisses at light and then hurriedly scurries back into shadows:::

I am a lurker.
Mostly in the shadows.
Or the womens showers.

Hmmmm…

I think the shoe fits. I’m beginning to realize (in all of life, not just here) that I like to read ever so much more than I like to write.

But I did go to the San Diego Dopefest at Farrell’s!

Back in the day I was a top poster on several of the local bulletin boards. I even had my own subs! But now I am a lurker.

Absolutely. I like to read, and I would like to discuss, but somehow all my posts are somewhat like this…nothing special.

But someday, after hours of lonely reading, endless telelvision watching, and long nights in the study…I will say something of relevance.

::rides in on a blossom-adorned float, and sees scores of lurkers milling about::

Well, my word! I never!

::Pulls out backup case of ***Official Doper-Lurker Medals ***::

Gather round, don’t be shy!

::Tosses medals gaily to the crowd::

(See them sparkle in the cold artificial glow of your monitor!)

::sees Aglet bouncing impatiently, tosses him one with a smile::

Three Cheers for Lurkers!

I ended my dislike of message boards when I saw that the threads in this one didn’t always devolve into name-calling. Otherwise, I would’ve never registered at all. But still, my behavior here is like in real life; I never talk but I always listen.

And belladonna, can you mention me by name in your next post here, pleeease?

See now, that’s cool - you know you’ve arrived here when people ask to be mentioned by name in your posts!

I’ve arrived? I’ve arrived?!

::dances around happily::

I was once a lurker too, you know.

::blows Eran a kiss::

bella–:cool:ly

Well… arrived further than some of us, anyway. :wink:

Woo-hoo! That’s the most exciting thing that has happened to me all day!

Do I qualify? You tell me.

Lurkers of the board, UNITE!!!
. . uh, maybe later . . .

In a strange and offbeat way, this seemed JUST the thread for my 100th post…

::lurk, lurk, lurk:: :slight_smile:

Same here lurk often post seldom

::Aglet clasps hands around shiny medal with delight::

I humbly thank you, belladonna [BTW ::looks down to check:: I’m a she].

I think a lot of people read through the threads for awhile before posting. It can be a little intimidating, what with all the intelligence/humor/wit bandied about on this board. Not to mention the intensity of the flames.

When my job was busier, I was unable to actively join in. Summers are usually slower, so I hope to contribute more.

I have been reading these boards for 2-3 years. I just don’t have much to add. I like to read more.

BUT, this is the second lurker post I’ve posted in.

Maybe if we had more lurker posts…

::blushes deeply over calling Aglet a boy::
(actually, I checked your profile but couldn’t tell. I figured a girl’d mind being called “he” less than a boy’d mind being called “she” in case I was wrong, which of course I was :slight_smile: )

::Tosses Hatter his medal::
Do you qualify? But of course!
You, El Gui and MarkF are hereby designated as the Grand Lurker Trinity. Use your powers wisely, or I’ll take them back as arbitrarily as I have assigned them. Bwaahahaha!

::stares pointedly at TVGuy’s post, notes the thirty extra posts in three days::
You, sir, are not a lurker! Fraud! Imposter!
Thirty lashes for you, please bend over now.
(hey, being a regular does have some benefits :wink: )

::throws out more medals randomly::

Up with lurkers!

Hey, belladonna; don’t you worry about referring to me as a boy. I still retain a bit of tomboy essence, so you probably picked up on those vibes. :slight_smile:

Okay, my problem now is that I appear to be busting out of Lurkdom with a vengeance! I initially hopped the gate to respond to a thread about quitting smoking (a topic near and dear to my heart—er, lungs) and now I can’t seem to stop myself from posting. I would imagine this is fairly common. Right? Please say right . . .
