I know there used to be a fair to middlin’ number of folks who posted here who live there. I have a friend who recently had to relocate there from California (TL;DR version, she was in an abusive relationship, had to get out fast, and someone in the 'Boro was kind enough to pay her way and give her a place to crash). Anyway, as you can imagine, she’s going through a bit of a culture shock and could use some help orientating herself in the area. (The friend she’s staying with is in her 60s or so, and my friend’s in her 30s, so they don’t have a lot of common interests, etc.)

I figured I’d poke my head in here and see if anyone was still around who might be able to give her a hand.

And not native.

But if you’re still in the 'Boro, you’d be a big help to her as you’ve been there longer than her friend has. (Her friend is also an ex-CA expat, and is far less hipper than you.)

I’m also 60, but live right outside M’boro. Not terribly hip, though.

I’d be glad to meet her for lunch some day, if she just needs some human contact.

Bosda, did you end up finding a new job? I’m thinking of doing early retirement, but my worry is insurance.
