I could go either way on this, but I did enjoy it enjoy it in 2012. Is there any talk among the powers that be about doing it again?
What took place there?
Nothing, really. I think it was called “Boo!” and was a temporary forum where everybody knew it was going to be shut down afterwards. It was an experiment for a seasonal forum. I kinda liked the idea.
Due to the government shutdown, Halloween has been cancelled.
The mods talked about this in September and I’ll restart those discussions now. The Boo! forum was popular and pretty successful, so we may do that again. We don’t want to repeat ourselves but it seems like almost everybody likes it when we do holiday stuff, so we’d like to keep that going.
What about July 15th-St. Swithin’s Day(patron saint of weather), to talk about the weather all day? Wouldn’t that be exciting?
I liked the “Boo!” forum, so I’m firmly in the ‘for’ column. I’d also enjoy a Christmas / winter holiday forum (I really want to know how to attach a Christmas tree to the roof of my car, complete with working twinkle lights, and not have it blow away as I’m driving through town. Where else but the Dope could I find out how to do that?), so if you’re tallying votes put mine in.
Personally, I’ll be leading the push for a special forum for this year’s Snmgfiehp season.
Maybe they can resurrect some zombies.
Last year it was Halloween theme names for the mods. After Happy Lendervedder started this thread, Marley offered to change usernames for all comers.

Can we have a forum for the day after Halloween - All Saints Day/Digital is the new Analog’s birthday? I hear there will be wild parties and lots to talk about.
It was awful. Hundreds of four or five word posts from people trying to be funny and generally failing. It was like an AOL chatroom.
It didn’t just go away, either. It hung around for six months cluttering up the drop-down navigation menu. Don’t do this again.
