It stands to reason that “Spamalot” will have a fairly long, successful, profitable run on Broadway, just because there are enough rabid fans of “Monty Python & the Holy Grail” to keep the theater full for a few months, at least.
To a large extent, the musical’s appeal is nostalgic- it’s another chance for middle-aged geeks (and I’m a middle-aged geek myself, so I’m allowed to use the term) to repeat all the lines they’ve memorized.
But has anyone seen the show who’s NOT a Python buff? If so, what did YOU think of it? Was it fun in its own right, or only as a chance for aging Python freaks to shout “Ni”?
