I’ve got a miserable cross-country train ride coming up, but it’d go by much easier if I could play Mega Man Anniversary Collection en route. I’m aware that there are PS2 monitors, but understandably I don’t want to spend $200 on it if possible.
Now, here’s a little background info for the PSOne LCD:
Front: http://gmstar.com/images/parts_lcd.jpg – I will mention that the AV connector can fit right into the PS2 AV, so only a power supply for the LCD would be needed, but on the PS2 the AV jack is right below the power plug so it can’t fit. But I’ve googled for a PSOne/PS2 AV extension cord but can’t find one.
A quick search on ebay has shown a couple of people selling the PSone LCD to RCA cable for about $5. (I searched for PSOne LCD, and a few hits for the cable came up). Assuming that you already have the PS2 RCA cable, all you’d need are three female to female RCA connectors to, well, connect them.
Try hunting down one of these babies. I got one for $20 at CompUSA during a holiday sale, and it’s convenient beyond words. Had one or two dead pixels, but other than that it’s great. Even has built in sound with a headphone jack.
That should do the trick, right? Just want to be 100% sure. Also when ordering the female-female RCA couplers, does one coupler fit all kinds of RCA cables (as long as you connect two of the same color together, of course), or do couplers come in red/yellow/black as well?
Thanks for the HipScreen link… I’ll get that if Mikahw’s idea doesn’t work out. Do you know how it compares to a Gameboy Advance screen?
I went to Radio Shack, and asked the salesperson for a RCA to AV-mini cable as well as RCA couplers. It never occured to me that RCA was the same thing as composite (normal A/V) input.
Amtrak trains come with power jacks at both the passenger seats and the cafeteria car seats, so I’ll just bring along a surge protector and the PSOne/PS2
