To be fair, the shows have always just been house shows designed to make the troops happy.
Anyone get any wrestling merch for Xmas? I got the Ultimate Warrior book.
What, no ganja?
My Xmas present to myself was tickets to Raw and Smackdown when they roll through in February. My ticket for Raw is in the 5th row facing the hard camera, so you just might see me.
So, according to Forbes’ latest WWE column, Vince has someone special in mind to fight Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania;
If this is true, allow me to be the first to say oh hell no, what the hell is wrong with you you crazy old man, it’s time for Steph and Hunter to put you in a home before you insist on destroying your own company from the inside.
What the heck, they’re paying Lesnar to show up, who cares who he fights? Better to have Goldberg part of a lame match than someone else.
I would absolutely mark out if Goldberg came back, but I think a Rumble appearance would make more sense.
Besides, if Goldberg came for some actual matches I would want him to give the rub to someone like Neville or Kallisto or someone who could contrast his style
I would seriously mark for a Goldberg return against Lesnar.
Oh God no. The man was never that special, just booked that way, seriously hurt people and has been out of the business for too many damned years.
No desire to see WWE give that man another dime.
…you guys do remember what happened the last time Brock fought Goldberg, right?
That was 12 years ago and Goldberg’s last match as far as I know. The only cheers either of them got was when Special Guest referee Stone Steve Cold Austin put the Stunner on them both. Goldberg would have some serious ring rust.
Brock’s not really a roster member these days, so he’s only going to be booked for “special occasions.” The first few moments of the match would be the two of them staring at each other while the audience goes vocal. So far the event promises to be underwhelming.
It’s like some of these people have zero grasp of the passage of time and completely forget the reality of what happened back then. Keep yearning for Goldberg, keep crying for ‘one more match’ out of Stone Cold, keep thinking that none of the current guys are ‘stars’ because only (hopeless midcarder from 20 years ago) and guys like that are STARS.
:smack:
Well, I admit, they had me. They played the tired old ‘Evil Boss has Top Face Arrested for Assault’ chestnut, then turned it on it’s head by having Vince arrested for being a dick to the cops.
Keep in mind that I want Goldberg back for the Rumble, not for a run.
Although I know it’s now famous he ended Bret’s career, who else did he hurt?
I think he hurt Meng, which must take some doing.
Vince getting arrested on Raw and Steph’s carny acting was poor poor television. Why do I watch this shit sometimes?
Because it’s hilarious.
It’s a soap opera with play-fighting. Bad acting and stupid cheesy arrest plot lines are what makes wrestling fun. Maybe it’s because I’m still a (relatively) new fan, but stuff like that doesn’t bother me and I seem to be much happier as a fan than most because I just take it as fun and dumb and at the end of the day…it’s wrestling.
You mean, they played the tired old “Try to have the top face arrested for something, only for the boss to be arrested (or threatened to be arrested) for being a dick to the cops” storyline. Yes, it has happened before.
Actually, Meng/Haku was a legitimate beast.
From his wiki:
TMZ is reporting that the NYPD fielded a large number of phone calls about Vince’s “arrest”. I guess there are still a few people to whom it’s real, dammit.
In other news, Corey Graves apparently taped a two-hour interview with Lemmy several weeks ago which might be airing on the Network sometime soon. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing him in the Hall of Fame this year.
