Any WWE fans in the audience? (Part 1)

I’m glad to hear this because it would be stupid to move Finn now…arguably ever.\

NXT is in the precarious position of existing to run people through, but still being public enough to need a brand. As much as we want Finn on the main roster, you almost have to have one super-duper star that stays in order to get recognition and face-time. Now I’m not saying he should be there forever, but until such time that the next 22-year old stud comes along and looks to be “the guy” and replace Finn, he should be in NXT to get SOME consistency.

Also I think a Finn/Nakamura title match in Japan would be big enough to get even the Japanese to make a peep during the match

It seems that RAW is worth DVRing again without the black cloud of The Authority hogging air time. I understand Sami Zayn and AJ Styles had an epic match, and Cesaro finally got revenge on KO and is stepping up as IC challenger. I’m not sure I like the Wyatts turning face, if that’s really what they’re doing. Maybe it will be revealed that Bray had some kind of master plan to get into RR’s good graces so he could discover his vulnerabilities from within. Maybe Creative actually has a long-range plan in mind.

So that’s roughly a half dozen indies added with actual acknowledgment of their past experience, another half dozen NXT callups, a repackaging or two, but still the celebrity guest host for cheap heat. Shane’s staying on as authority figurehead, and he doesn’t think the show’s all about him. Roman is the champ, and the world didn’t end. He doesn’t give lengthy promos, and is more or less back to his Shield personality. Things are looking up.

Long-range plan? for what? ANOTHER Bray/Reigns feud? They did that already…it sucked.

All will come to naught anyway when they’re already talking Cena-Reigns at Summerslam.

Yeah, thanks guys. Way to piss all over any feud he has between now and then.

Wouldn’t it be hilarious if this entire thing was a really long con for us to like Cena?

Build someone who is so hated that even John Cena is a breath of fresh air

On the one hand. he’s massively over and he’s selling merch like crazy.

On the other hand, he did work for WCW for a few weeks before they went out of business and burying him would give Vince another opportunity to gloat about how he beat WCW.

Apparently, TNA has been evicted from its own headquarters and they’ve moved the head office into their merch warehouse.

Sounds like the other shoe might finally be about to drop.

Well, just like last time around, NO ONE* wants to sink another dime into TNA when Dixie will remain in charge.

  • Other than her family, who are probably (and rightfully) terrified of what she would do to Panda Energy if they gave her a job there. And is sure sounds like they’ve run out of patience with the whole thing.

Evicted… apparently Panda Energy can’t cover all of Dixie’s money pits. Paul Heyman said that ECW lost $7 million when they went out of business, but TNA easily loses that every month.

In other news, Prince Puma aka Ricochet may be showing up at WWE this summer. He’s not taking any bookings past June, and they’re supposedly interested in him. Last LU show was the first time I’ve ever seen him talk, and it was only a few words with Rey Rey and Azteca Jr. Those three are billed to go against Johnny Mundo, Taya, and Cage tonight. Dario Cueto again arranges for feuders to team up. Mundo’s already busted beer bottles and cement blocks on Cage’s head, so maybe the story is that he has amnesia. Anyhoo, I’m guessing LU has a trademark on Prince Puma, so we’ll see Ricochet without the mask. I hope he winds up in NXT so he won’t be Nevilled in the main roster.

RIP Balls Mahoney. I met him once (twice if you include yelling at him as he drove down the interstate in an incredibly small car) and he seemed like a nice guy. I almost choked when I saw he was the same age as me. Of course I didn’t build a career getting chair shots every night.

Hi everyone, I’m not a WWE fan. I know a few of the names and that’s about it.

My question: if I wanted to find out if I liked watching wrestling, is there such a thing as a really good free-to-view wrestling match you would point me towards as an example of what wrestling can be?

Well, hey, in last night’s TNA broadcast, they featured Al Snow in a major program. As a heel. In 2016. Without Head.

That’ll be sure to turn things around!

Welp, I guess if you just want good technical matches with lots of action, search Youtube for Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, Dolph Ziggler, AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, Samoa Joe, Cesaro, & CM Punk for starters. Those are current and past WWE stars.

Ring of Honor might have a show in your area on one of the free TV networks like CW on weekends. Times and channels vary. You could also search Youtube for such RoH stars as Jay Lethal, Roderick Strong, & Adam Cole. Search for any name on this page for that matter. RoH is a distant second to WWE as far as popularity goes, but their shows are awesome and many of their people eventually wind up with WWE.

For classic wrestlers who have definitely influenced today’s talent, search for Ric Flair, Terry Funk, Ricky Steamboat, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Shawn Michaels, the Undertaker, Mick Foley (as Cactus Jack and Mankind), Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock (Dwayne Johnson), and many many others.

I’m sure my fellow threadsters can recommend more names to search.

Hey, someone has to serve those fans still stuck in the 80’s and 90’s and clamoring for “stars” they recognize.

Given the recent Wrestlemania…that someone is WWE…

Do you ever listen to MSL and Kevin Sullivan? They are part of the MLW podcast world, I highly recommend them and of course James E. Cornnette

The good ol’ Greenville Memorial Auditorium, I have many great memories there! From 1978 until about 1986, I don’t think I missed more than one or two Monday nights watching Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling in person. Those were the days:)

I think the Greenville show was one of the funnest I’ve ever been to. I remember the Sheep Herders were on the card and they played the crowd like masters. Whenever the crowd started chanting “USA! USA!” the Sheep Herders would act like they were in pain from hearing it, cover their ears, and slump back to the dressing room. One old lady stood up and shook her finger at one of them and he acted like he was scared of her. They won the match by cheating, of course, and the crowd went ballistic while I laughed my ass off.

Nope not them.

Cheap Heat (Was the best of the bunch, we’ll see now)

Ring Rust Radio (They’re now the best. Smart, funny, not smarky and have some great gimmicks like Dirt Sheet Busters and Smarks Say the Darndest things)

The Steel Cage (used to be great, but got WAY too into themselves and are smarky as all hell…haven’t actually listened to them in a while because of it)

Jericho if the guest is good and sometimes Jim Ross and Austin. Ms. Cups listens to all the above and also After Buzz TV every once in a while if she’s desperate.

Ooooh, what an interesting challenge. I’ll start you off with something that’s a little less obvious than many other choices: Ric Flair defending the World Heavyweight Title against Sting at the Great American Bash, 1990.
