Any WWE fans in the audience? (Part 1)

I’m not quite thrilled to see Mick and Daniel back. It might turn out fine, but their appearance just reminded me they won’t be wrestling any more. Without wrestling I’m not sure if either one can do the job as entertainers required in this case. I do hope to be proven wrong about that.

I’m curious what they’re going to do with Cena. His role for a while now has been a high level jobber. He’s putting over new talent, still holding his reputation, but I don’t see him ever doing more than being an interim champion in the future. I suppose if the story lines fall apart they’ll turn to him again, but right now he’s in the same role Y2J has.

Orton is the big question, bigger still because of Brock’s drug test. I think he’ll resume his role of a giant killer. Hopefully he’ll fight his way through the ranks of top wrestlers new and old before he becomes a top title contender again, but I have a feeling they won’t have the patience to wait until after next year’s mania to put the big push on him again.

Cena has to be champ at least once more before he’s done if only to tie Ric Flair. That’s probably one big reason they moved him out of the title picture, or he’d be passing that record by several.

Honestly, these guys run on movement and adrenaline. Their entire life is on the road. Like old rock stars still doing county fairs, it’s generally because they’ve been doing it their entire adult life and they don’t know how to settle down and live in one place. I don’t think John Cena has clue #1 on what to do if he’s not a WWE Superstar. Dwayne Johnson acts in 20 gazillion movies, has his own production company making other things and does a ton of appearances. He’s made a ton of money, but it is essentially the same thing. Always on the move, always doing something. Austin has all his ventures, properties, TV show, etc. Hogan’s big problem has been that he can’t handle not being on the run anymore and it’s making him stupid.

Almost if, in addition to the ‘lifetime’ assistance with rehab issues, they should hire some people to prepare people for the end of their careers and transitioning to something else. I know they do financial training these days to try to cut down on the Tony Atlases, but “Someday you’ll stop traveling 300 days a year, here’s how to do it without going stircrazy” training would do them some good.

That’s a good and interesting thought. Never really put the two-and-two together between Rock’s outside-of-ring success, and Hogan’s lack thereof.

Well, he had his infrequent WWE appearances, but notice he was still delusionally spouting about “one more run as WWE champ” :smack:. He had the reality show for a time and worked hard to make something out of nothing (his daughter). But his days are over, his fame is fading, and he has never known how to face that either. His wife left by the end of the reality show, his son killed someone, got sent to jail and ruined his own life, his daughter is still nothing. He may never be back in the WWE and may end up only being able to make limited appearances with independent promotions as a toe in the door.

Dude definitely needs to learn how to live like a retired person.

Commissioner Regal would like a word with you, son.

The Cruiserweight Title is coming back! And it’ll be exclusive to… RAW? Um, okay. I wonder if the belt will go to the winner of the CWC.

If it means we get Zack Sabre Jr. on Raw, I’m all in.

NXT’s always been the exception. Come to think of it, RoH is too.

Maybe Bryan and Foley will act the intermediaries and order matches whenever scuffles break out. Maybe they’ll rediscover an acute love for violence and turn into gringo versions of Dario Cueto, forcing adversaries to team with each other.

Don’t need to go that far. DBD can just bring up Team Hell No, smile and laugh in their face and force them to team up, telling them to “hug it out”. Which of course means that Bayley HAS to end up on Smackdown. :stuck_out_tongue:

(and hopefully that means an appearance by the kendo stick wielding ‘Championship Hugger’ )

I wonder if one of the NXT callups will be “The winner of the CWC”.

It definitely won’t be known then since they appear to be recording the CWC matches in real-time, but it wouldn’t be totally outside the realm of possibility for Steph to just say “For our next pick we are picking from NXT, but someone that even WE don’t know yet, but we know will fit in with our cruiserweight division perfectly, and that person is…the winner of the CWC!”

It would be a cool swerve-y type pick that could get people talking and REALLY put a spotlight on CWC

For that matter, Commissioner Foley already had a notable run as Raw GM.

Teddy Long was also a face authority figure for most of his run (unless you just hate tag team matches, playa!)

Heck, wasn’t Steph a face GM when she was running Smackdown vs Bicshoff’s Raw?

Really, heels not named Dario are pretty played out as authority figures for the moment, I’m happy to give some non-heel ones a run for a bit.

Former Wrestlers Suing WWE for Head Trauma

What a coincidence, it’s all the ones who are needing money!

Frankly, I’m surprised this didn’t happen sooner (although the article says it did). Figured it’d be easy pickins for the older guys.

Brock has failed a second drug test, this one taken the day of UFC 200. It’s really not looking good for him at this point.

So whose idea was it to pay Lesnar a fortune to show up a couple of times a year? They put themselves on the spot with Reigns by putting his violation in the story line. Another bad day for the WWE and no time to play the story. I suppose Lesnar will get mugged on the way to the arena.

Or they just don’t mention it and they don’t care like the rest of the country most likely doesn’t care.

Yeah, at the end of the day I guess it hurts the sport, but literally no one is surprised and who even knows what he was on?

I don’t think people are juicing with horrible crazy-ass steroids like they used to. He probably had some random GNC testosterone booster that you or I could get and take with no real health ramifications.

At least he can lose now and have a kayfabe excuse for it

Officially they cannot announce what he popped on without Brock’s consent. However, an “official in the know” says it was clomiphene, the same thing Jones popped on. Clomiphene is an estrogen blocker and often used when coming off a steroid regiment.

Clomiphene is also banned by WWE’s wellness policy. It’s anyone’s guess if WWE issues a suspension, but either way I think Orton is winning at Summerslam.

Wow…getting right into it huh?

Rollins and Ambrose back-to-back…also on different shows.

Hmmmm…

Interesting… Finn, American Alpha and Nia Jax called up. No TV pick for Bailey, but maybe the followup thing on the network.

Recent NXT callups Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Sami Zayn, KO, Enzo & Cass, Baron Corbin, Neville chosen before 80% of the veterans.

Surprised Chris Jericho got drafted so early, but I guess he’s still money.

Notable snubs: Paige, Darren Young, Kalisto, Dana Brooke, Zack Ryder

Shit, Naia, Carmella, Eva Marie, and Alexa are called up, but no Bailey! Guess she’s staying to feud with Asuka, and the SHIMMER girls will be more of a presence.

Will Finn and the Club be a thing again?

I hope Luke Harper comes back to the Wyatts. They’re too cool to be broken up. Not sure Stroman can make it on his own in RAW. Please don’t give him a circus strongman gimmick.

I’m trying to wrap my head around the idea that, kayfabe-wise, neither commissioner wanted Joe, Bayley or Nakamura, but somebody wanted Eva Marie and Mojo f’n Rawley?
