Hehe I was wondering why the crowd started going WHOO! Flair stole Austin and Jose’s heat by arriving late!
Bille Kay needs a cape made out of Dalmation puppies.
Of all the times I’ve seen Ember Moon wrestle, in her various characters, I’ve never seen that kickass finisher in person.
I really really want to now
OK I’m seriously marking out on Bobby Roode’s entrance. It’s Finn Balor level.
Damn good tag match.
Here it comes
here it comes…
OK, Ciampa didn’t swerve. I guess Gargano’s knee is going to be an angle in CWC.
What a pointless Tag-Team match.
All this tells me is that The Revival isn’t good enough to lose and be called up, but they aren’t bad enough to fade into obscurity.
It’s time for Tomaso and Gargano to be champs and make an actually interesting storyline.
Boo NXT, Boo
Asuka the human koosh ball retains. Will we see Bailey in prime time now?
Awwwwww they made Izzy cry…
Holy shit, they’re going all big budget on the entrances to night!
They should have subtitled this show, NXT Takeover: Cinematic Entrances.
Not that I’m complaining.
Joe looked like he was wrestling a giant jellyfish.
Grats NakaYouraheadaoffa!
Ok, that Glorious Entrance was;
a> Hilariously campy, and yet
b> Really fun
Shinsuke’s was pretty awesome too. I hope violin guy gets a bonus.
Shinsuke and Bayley to the main roster, I guess. I wonder if we’ll see them tomorrow night or wait until RAW.
Yes. Yes I am.
Just finished watching the replay. Damn good show. Disappointed with the end of the tag titles match, but it was good and suspenseful anyway. Main event was awesome and the right man won. Loved that they used Banks & Steelz for one of the theme songs - they’re a new super-duo (Paul Banks of Interpol, and RSA of the Wu-Tang Clan) that’s got a really great sound, and I’m seeing them do their second concert ever in Seattle on Tuesday. The show was a little choppy on the hotel wifi, but it’s a much better connection here in the luxury suite than I had in the room I was in last night until they had to move me when the toilet exploded (but that’s a tale for another day).
I missed watching the show live because I was at the ROH TV taping that happened at the same time. Between that show, the PPV last night, and Takeover, I’ve consumed about 11 hours of wrestling since yesterday evening. I don’t know how I’m going to handle another 5 hours worth tomorrow. ![]()
This show, like the PPV last night, was held at Sam’s Town, an older, off-Strip resort that mainly caters to locals. Unlike the PPV, this wasn’t a sellout - there were a good number of empty seats in the bleachers, but the crowd was still large and lively. They taped 4 episodes of the weekly show, with an intermission after the first two, and some dark matches at the beginning and after intermission. Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness called the first two shows, and Stage Corrine returned to call the last two. The announcer told us when to get up and make noise for the show intros, and they announced the “television main event” that capped off each episode, but it’s clear that they add a lot in post. We weren’t shown any taped promos on the Titantron (Honortron?), which was only used to show the intro packages for the wrestlers, and there were several promos that either weren’t mic’d for the live crowd or which referenced stuff we hadn’t seen.
I won’t do a full recap, since they did somewhere near 20 matches overall and some of you might want to watch the shows without being spoilers (and because my tablet’s keyboard case was ruined in the flood and touchscreen typing takes forever), but I’ll name a few highlights.
Most of the wrestlers on this show were also on the PPV, with a few exception s, and a few guys did double duty. The rumored Cody Rhodes appearance didn’t happen, but we did get a different surprise cameo - Kevin Sullivan, of all people, showed up in his hooded robe managing a new (I think?) guy called “Punishment”, who was working a Deadman-type gimmick where he no-sold everything and finished off his opponent with a one-handed chokeslam. Bullet Club worked several tag matches in various combinations. Dalton Castle had another amazing match and I can solidly say I’m a mark for him now. Toru Yano had a hilarious match with Silas Young, and I got a death stare from Young when I yelled that Dalton is more of a real man than he is. There was a women’s match between Sumie Sakai, a 40s-ish lady who looks and rights like an older and more experienced version of Asuka, and Kelly Klein, who looks like Stephanie McMahon if she were about a foot taller, juiced to the gills, and had a rack that would make Nikki Bella jealous. There was a TV title match between Bobby Fish and Shibata (Donovan Final did not get his promised title shot at this taping), Okada teamed up with Rolling Vice for a match against the Addiction and Kamataichi, and the final match they taped was Adam Cole and Adam Page vs. Michael Elgin and Tanahashi.
I was in the same area by the ramp as I was for the PPV, but in the front row this time. I got to high-five, shake hands, or pat on the back a good many of the wrestlers, including Mark Bristle, Tanahashi, Lethal, and Elgin, and I got too-sweeted by Adam Page. Lots of fun, and I’d definitely fly out here again to see them the next time they play Vegas (which is about as far west as ROH tours).
I just hope the next trip is free of toilet explosions.
Missed edit window; I meant to type “Steve Corrino”, not “Stage Corrine”. And “Roppongi” instead of “Rolling”.
I hate touchscreen typing.
So latest rumor that I’ve heard is that Joe was legit hurt after his match.
That last kinshasha (or however you spell it) did him in.
Yeah, looks like your auto-complete had a field day. ![]()
When Steve Corino and BJ Whitmer had their Fight Without Honor, Sullivan showed up and helped Whitmer win, then announced he was Whitmer’s dark side guru. Previously, Whitmer had taken Corino’s son Colby under his wing and abused him in front of Steve. Steve kept getting unhinged as a result and got suspended about 15 times. Lately he had been putting on a mask and calling himself Mr. Wrestling III in the announce booth, which inspired Whitmer to abuse Colby even more to make Corino expose himself.
Colby Corino is 110 lbs soaking wet, but he’s a really good wrestler. He hasn’t won any RoH matches that I recall, but he’s fantastic at selling. He’s like one of those skateboarders who keeps wracking himself on the rails while trying some insane stunt. Hmmm, he’s now one of the Ugly Ducklings!
I feel like a chump. WWE is no longer predictable. 0-2 so far hehe
What a pointless women’s match.
Good for them that they were on so long, but lots of botches and a stupid-ass finish makes the whole thing moot.
And as I type this Miz wins…so that’s 3 heel wins in a row.
Way to suck the fun out of wrestling
AJ WINS! CLEAN!
That’s probably going to be the match of the night.
