Any WWE fans in the audience? (Part 1)

Yeah, I didn’t end up paying a lot of attention to it.

Enzo needs to keep talking for Big Cass, who can’t promo to save his life. However, the entire Hotel Room thing was beyond stupid and needs to quietly go away.

I was hoping New Day would go another month and get just over 500 days. I hate when WWE make an issue about someone being close to ending a streak because it means they’re going to do it like 3 seconds after the last streak was broken, especially when the previous record holder is on the outs with WWE. There’s no suspense. You know they won’t lose until they break the record, then they’ll lose immediately. :frowning:

Sasha can’t win a PPV, Charlotte can’t lose a PPV. Ok, we get it. Fucking move on already. You assholes have spent 2016 hotshotting the title back and forth between them and it is annoying as fuck.

2016 is over - and so is New Day’s 2016 push.

So the 2017 cover will feature Roman Reigns and Eva Marie? :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok, so Ms. Cups and I just watched The Final Deletion and, come on, if you didn’t laugh the entire time and have fun with that…then you just have no soul.

It was stupid, irreverant, funny, self-referencial…it was executed so well! Just a good time all around.

So who was everyone? Was that an actual Legion of Doom guy? Were the beautiful brothers or whatever actual people? Was there anything else the casual viewer may have missed?

IIRC, the last five covers were:
2011 - Sheamus (“Content is King”)
2012 - Cena
2013 - turnbuckles (with the WWF, Attitude, and current logos)
2014 - turnbuckles again
2015 - New Day
The 2016 report will be released around April 1, 2017

Yes, that was Road Warrior Animal - the original “Night of the Skywalkers” (Starrcade 2016) was a scaffold match between the Midnight Express and the Road Warriors, although the Rock & Roll Express took the Road Warriors’ place at house shows. I have heard Disco Inferno was there early on, and there may have even been a 3 Count reunion.

I forgot to mention that I recognized Disco Inferno.

I used to love him as a kid in WCW. They had a storyline of him wanting to be in the nWo Wolfpack, but they wouldn’t let him. I loved the Wolfpack and wanted Disco in it so badly.

Oh, he was in it, all right. My favorite Disco moment was when someone from the nWo Elite told Vincent to deliver a message to DDP, punctuated by slapping Page in the face. Finally showing a little genre-savvy, Vincent fobbed that duty off on Disco, telling him that when he slapped Page in the face, that’d be the signal for the rest of the boys to come down and save him. Disco did it, got no backup, and got Diamond Cuttered.

He’s the most recent guest on Talk is Jericho, his stories are quite interesting.

Missed it by that much. (30 years) Cornette does not fall well. :frowning:

Nobody wanted to do the scaffold matches. It was the reason the Powers of Pain left for WWF.

I remember Disco Inferno was supposed to have his character refined to where he’d be a swami who rides an elephant to the ring, but I guess they had too many logistical problems, including an unwillingness to clean up elephant shit.

Last night on RAM, Chris Jericho had Roman Reigns backed into the corner alongside KO and slapped him on side the head. KO said “Hit his head again! Careful you don’t get conditioner on your hands!”

Reminded me of Smapti’s story where he patted Reigns on the back as he came out for his entrance and came back with a hand coated with cologne.

Reportedly Vince thought the “Sasha holds out for a minute and a half and taps with 2 seconds left” finish would be more dramatic and no one could talk him out of it.

Dumbass. ANYONE tapping with a few seconds left is a moron, and unfortunately, we’ve seen that finish several times lately on WWE.

Renee Young and the Miz last night was the first time in a long long time that left me with a sense of “I can’t believe he said that” and was rooting for her reaction.

For 2 seconds it seemed real.

SD got a little too Total Divas-y last night. Renee Young asked Miz if he had any thoughts on what Dean Ambrose was up to, and Miz replied, “You should know. You’re sleeping with him.” So she slapped him. GASP! /flutter with handfan

Then Natty called Nikki the B-word. Granted, it was her best promo ever, but seriously, don’t you already do this on the E! Network? What’s next, you going to pull out each other’s weaves?

Talking Smack had Rhyno play a lecherous Santa who kept rubbing cookies on his chest. Mere words can’t do it justice.

Yeah, I just read the summary/review of Talking Smack and was :dubious: the entire time. Vince’s humor, most likely. It’s amazing he doesn’t get sued more often for that shit.

I thought that the segment was made even better by how they cut to the announcers’ stunned reactions. Even JBL only managed a muted, “Well, that happened…”

Why is Smackdown so much better than Raw? The Cobbler had it exactly right: Smackdown is a wrestling show, and Raw is a TV show about wrestling.

Tye Dillinger is pretty much the NXT darling nowadays, but his move set is still too basic. He needs to do amazing shit. Seth Rollins is roughly the same size and build, and he can acrobat-counter. Tye takes all the blows and gets sympathy heat, but he needs to do some kind of comeback gesture. The staredown he gave Bobby Roode when they were the last two left came close.

Is anybody as underwhelmed as I am with 205 Live? Turns out Vince and Dunn are running it, not HHH. The Cruiserweights became famous for the amazing quality of the matches during the CWC, not the soap opera storylines they’re slogging through now. I want to see Noam Dar and Cedric Alexander go at it for 15 minutes, not have a 2 minute match followed by 15 minutes of drama.

Honestly, I haven’t been watching it for pretty much that reason.

I’ve actually not watched a single second of 205 live, just never seemed to interest me.

In other news, got an email today that TNA is back in town! The first week of January is a whole week of free shows. Plus, and this is new, they have TWO shows on the weekends.

I can think of worse excuses to spend the day at Universal.
Speaking of. Was there last weekend and, of course, I saw Izzy and her goddamn family again. This is the FOURTH TIME I’ve seen them at Universal.

Wonderful. When 205 Live flops, Vince is going to say it’s because nobody wants to watch Cruiserweights, not because of his creative defection.
