RoH/NJPW picked up another NXT dropout. CJ Parker is now Juice Robinson. Still has the dreadlocks, but shaved the sides of his head and is now a club dancer instead of environmental activist. He lost to the Villain Marty Scurl first time out.
Not just one of the best women’s matches, one of the best matches, PERIOD, that I’ve ever seen.
Yup, pretty much why I linked it. If you’re getting back into the product or wondering if you should, that is an example of the best you’ll find out there with the WWE product.
Peyton and Pufferfish screwed up. Once they had Nikki and Asuka laid out, they should have run back into the ring and had Peyton pin Pufferfish to win the title.
Dayum, this NXT special has blown me away.
Tye vs SAnitY is going to be a good feud. That’s the best I think I’ve seen Tye perform. He’s callup quality now.
I thought Strong vs Dorado stole the show, but DIY vs AoP stole it back. I forgot how good Paul Ellering was at delivering creepy promos. He was the menacing genius behind the Road Warriors as well, and AoP look every bit as badass. Ciampa looked scary mean like his days in RoH, and Gargano is a ring genius.
Totally did not expect Seth Rollins to make an appearance.
Nikki Cross is more Dean Ambrose than Dean Ambrose. She’s my new ex-wife. How could I for one second doubt Asuka? She will lose never.
Time for teh Gloriousness.
Dang, didn’t expect Bobby Roode to win. So much for ex-TNA stars getting shafted. Guess this means Nakamura will stay around to feud for a few months at least.
I was thinking before maybe HHH would be in the Rumble tomorrow and Seth would use that moment to seek revenge, but they had it happen tonight. Aitch could still do a run-in for KO vs RR, and get thwarted by Seth. Cue soap opera organ.
Well, four out of five on my match predictions ain’t bad.
The main event was one of the best in terms of storytelling and execution that I’ve ever seen.
The Royal Rumble promo video during the Takeover pre-show had some interesting names on it. I’ll spoiler it just in case…
Zack Sabre Jr. and Sting
I’d like to see the first one but I have reservations about the second one. There is a built in storyline if booked right but I don’t see that happening.
He hee AWESOME match between KO & RR. Lots of destruction of props and real estate. I love the way KO mocks RR, especially the Fist To the Ground with brass knucks. That Frog Splash was so lithe and graceful, like a ballerina jump. BWAHAHAHA!
…So, Enzo Amore is definitely fucking that plate of chicken, right?
If he doesn’t, Big Cass will.
#cenawinslol
I hate John Cena.
Well, we know the first person who won’t be winning at Wrestlemania.
Glad that they didn’t do the easy thing. And having Goldberg just squash Brock again was pure awesomeness.
I realize at Wrestlemania it’s expected that Brock will finally go over, but now it’s just crying out to be a running gag. Goldberg should squash him again at WM.
Because deep down, in places we’ll never admit exist, we all want to see Cena vs. Orton one more time.
Worst “network special” of the year.
Well, that finish was… unexpected.
Are we gonna be getting Cena/Orton at 'Mania for the billionth time? Or will they find some way to put the belt on Bray?
Perfect main event. Well-crafted story. The most “out there” entrants were actually Jack Gallagher and Tye Dillon. No Samoa Joe, no Kurt Angle, no Kane ( who’s always there but not any more).
I liked how the superpowers eliminated each other one after another: Goldberg tosses Brock, UT tosses Goldberg, Rains tosses UT.
Good weasling on Jericho’s behalf, staying out of the ring for most of the event.
Stroman looked awesome and terrifying.
I think Enzo lasted about 30 seconds, most of that being his entrance.
Corbin chalked up one into the awesome category by eliminating Stroman.
Gallagher and William the Third put on a posh performance.
Tye came in at #10! Of course he did! That makes absolute sense!
And RKO is the winnah! I thought he would be stuck in the Wyatt purgatory, but holy shit, he shot directly into the main event! That was unexpected.
I can’t argue with the choice to make Orton the winner, but there was just too much laying around the ring forever by the contestants. Refs get up from finishers faster than these guys got up from clotheslines.
And I really hope Goldberg is relearning some other moves besides the spear and jackhammer. Back in WCW he used to snap off some really cool moves but it seems like once he got into the main event he fell back to just three main ones(gorilla press slam, spear, jackhammer).
Smackdown has an Elimination Chamber between now and Wrestlemania.
