It has just come to my attention that Pentagon Jr. and Fenix, who are brothers in real life, have beaten the Young Bucks for the PWG tag team championships.
This is awesome, and I hope I get the chance to congratulate Penta when I see him live next month.
I actually just learned of their relation this weekend! Ms. Cups and I are slowly working out way through Lucha Underground on Netflix, and we have a habit of Wikipedia-ing the wrestlers as we see them. It always continues to floor me as to how incestuous wrestling is. It doesn’t matter where you wrestle or who you are, it seems that everyone has wrestled everyone else at least once or twice in their lives
Apparently the dude who leaked the photos/video says he has over 50 of em from various stars. Summer Rae’s and Sasha’s have also apparently come out today.
If all this is true, it’s a pretty terrible thing for all these people…
Jim Cornette will induct the Rock 'n Roll Express into the HOF.
It takes a pair of big ones to give Cornette a hot mic at a live event. Hopefully he doesn’t screw it up and we’ll see the Midnights get inducted soon.
OK, I must watch HoF for Jim Cornette. He’s their kayfabe archenemy, and he gets all unhinged when he’s upset. Will he lapse into promo memory and start going batshit crazy when he sees them run out to their theme music?
There seems to be a rumor going around that the leaks may have been perpetrated by some mouth breather who is pressed about WWE giving the women more prominent roles lately, and is determined to ruin their careers and/or shame them out of the business, or something.
If I were Vince, I’d be more worried about Corny going into a profanity-laden tirade about how WWE has killed wrestling by exposing the business and nobody takes it seriously any more because they treat wrestling like a joke and their fans like idiots, escalating inevitablty to him yelling at the son-in-law to the effect of “FUCK YOU AND ANYONE WHO LOOKS LIKE YOU!”
For their sake, I hope he’s Xanax’d up and mellow when he hits the stage.
Takeaways from last night’s RAM:
HHH looks like The Brow from Dick Tracy. He and Stephanie have been overdoing the Authority angle for so long, he hardly got any heat from announcing he and Seth would have a match at WM. Let me guess… Seth is going to sell the injured leg for a half hour while HHH stretches him.
New Day had a teeny little teaser setup for Xavier when Big E started with “So, anything interesting going on?” Xavier paused soberly for a bit, then launched into the WM hype. So far, WWE seems to understand the porno leaks weren’t his fault. Where does that leave Paige? Will they channel her sitch into an angle, or will they think her negatives outweigh her positives and quietly phase her out?
Goldberg vs Brock blah blah blah… the match is going to be shorter than the amount of time promoting it.
I liked KO better as the smartass heel. Now they’re making him all broody and maudlin. It would have been funnier if KO had a meltdown after Highlight Reel, but they had to make him act serious and shit. Jericho’s touring with Fozzy after WM, so the outcome of their match is a guaranteed KO win, which takes all the fun out of it. Maybe he’ll go back to his smartass ways as he defends the US belt.
I’m digging Nia Jax. She’s grown on me. I’m glad they put her in the title match. I’m curious to see how she pairs against Charlotte, but she’s probably going to be triple teamed and thrown out of the ring, and then the other girls will turn on each other while she lays on the floor for 15 minutes.
Vegas has Braun Stroman winning AtGBR at 1:6 odds. Ronda Rousey is 250:1. Interesting how Vegas puts betting statistics on possible angles.
Brian Kendrick is the coolest heel, period. He doesn’t do the repetitious ambushes and sneak attacks. He doesn’t hog the mic and snarl and spit. He just does the con job even when everybody knows he’s conning them. Too bad he doesn’t have a more prominent role in WM.
So what you’re saying is I didn’t miss anything by not watching RAW?
I know Cornette has a reputation for going off the hook, but after giving it some thought I don’t think he’s going to do anything outlandish. He has too much respect for the RnR Express and wouldn’t want to do anything to take the spotlight off them on their big night. He probably doesn’t want to screw up a chance at the HOF for the Midnight Express as well. He’ll do “what’s best for business.”
I will make a point to catch his first podcast after the induction. That’s gonna be good.
I only get the Hulu version, so I missed New Day and Kendrick, but I needed to rest my fast forward button afterwards. Needed less talk, more punch. Reigns and Strauman put on a darn good big man match, and Zayn/Samoa Joe and Bailey/Jax were also pretty good.
Just a lot of WM promo and Sami Zayn abuse.
JR’s wife was hit while riding her vespa, causing skull fractures and surgery. His tweet didn’t sound too optimistic on her fate…

It’s interesting to mention that the first time I saw this article it said that they already accepted. Although I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t.
If true, I expect to see them after Mania.
SD completely blew RAM away this week. No repetitious promos. This show had plenty of satire, ring action, and hubris.
Miz & Maryce did a spot-on parody of Total Bellas, or Total Bellashit. Miz wore Cena’s urban getup, kept invoking “House Rule No. X” in a monotone, and Maryce nailed her Nikki impression as a vacuous media whore. Tyler Breeze even got in on the Bella satire, coming out dressed as Nikki, wearing falsies and even doing her stripper pole dance! This was Breezango at their best. I was gasping for air bc I was laughing so hard.
Shane got revenge on AJ in convincing fashion, and pulled off one of his death defying moves. I used to live about 30 miles from AJ’s home town, and he does remind me a lot of the NE Georgia rednecks who would announce to everybody they’re waiting for so-and-so in the parking lot. Rumor has it he and Roman are going to trade places. While it’d be cool to see him reunite with BC on RAM, he is partially right about being the reason SD is getting better ratings.
Bray finally did something weird in retaliation to RKO’s arsony, getting about a dozen sheep maskers in green jumpsuits to jump him. No Erick Rowan, even though he’s cleared to come back. Hopefully they won’t have him get punked out by The Rock again this year.
SD is doing a show in Raleigh on the 29th. I might actually go.
I’m taking my son to a WWE house show in Raleigh this Sunday – he’s an Ambrose fan and this is his first live show. I’ve been reading this thread to learn about the current story lines. Thanks everyone for the interesting posts.
I would imagine any issues are creative control and property/gimmick rights.
You (and he) are in for a treat! House shows are, far and away, the best wrestling you can possibly see. Be sure and come back with a report!
In sadder news, JR’s wife did not win her fight, she passed away last night. In a blog post about the incident he mentioned that she wasn’t wearing a helment, which contributed to her passing…always wear your helmet kids.
In not sad news, Josh Roberts (that’s his name right? The old ring announcer?), Tommy Dreamer and Johnny Mundo are going to be at a Barns and Noble around the corner from where I live doing a book signing for Roberts’ new book. Unfortunately, we will be in Lakeland watching Supercard of Honor and won’t be seeing them. Although I do wonder what Ms. Cups thinks, she loves Jeff Hardy but also loves Mundo. An embarrassment of riches for that one…
As for regular wrestling, I’m not even going back to watch RAW because I just don’t care. Smackdown was hi-freakin-larious with the Total Bellas segments! It’s all so, so true!
All our 'Mania gear came in last week too. So we are all set for 2 weeks from now. So close!
