I thought it was a perfectly fine episode of Lucha, but nothing super spectacular. They can’t all be winners, but it’s not as bad as certain shows on Monday and Tuesday nights…
Although I do have to say…Melissa Santos’s voice is the wooooooorrrrrssssstttt. I hate how she announces everyone’s name. Friggin nails on a chalkboard to me.
I’m betting that was all Trips and that the problem on Smackdown wasn’t just JBL, but more accurately, VINCE screaming in his ear and encouraging JBL’s behavior.
There’s no Vince or JBL on NXT.
I don’t want to wish harm on Vince, but goddamn, I want that man out of there.
That’d be him, yes. He’s 47, has been in the business since 1993, and is one of the few wrestlers still active today who can boast that he wrestled in WCW, and he’s wrestled pretty much everywhere that’s anywhere in the meantime. He won the ROH title at this year’s Anniversary Show, marking the first time he’s ever won the top title of a major promotion. He and Cody ought to be able to put on one hell of a match.
In other news, DEFY (which is quickly shaping up to be the dominant wrestling enterprise in the Pacific Northwest) put four more shows on sale this week, along with the announcement that they’ll be doing their first-ever somewhere-outside-the-Seattle-Tacoma-area show sometime in September, details TBD.
So, as of now, these are the wrestling shows I’ve got tickets for and/or will likely be attending in the near future;
You’re much smarter than me at these things, but I thought the big deal of him winning the championship was because he was their first-ever champion or something. And him winning it again after so many years is what made it such a big deal. Or was it that he wrestled at the first PPV they had? There was something sentimental about it.
You’re getting a Raw and a Smackdown? Together? Is there a PPV that weekend? or are you roadtripping
It was more of a “best to never win the title” situation with Daniels. They had a tournament of people who had been around in ROH at the beginning with the winner getting a title shot, he won the tournament (turning going from heel to face in the process of the tournament) then won the title.
That’s how it usually goes when they do TV up here - they’ll do Raw in Portland and Smackdown in Seattle, or vice versa. Since I live about halfway between the two of them, it’s not too difficult to make it to both.
Dalton Castle and the Boys are your new ROH World Six-Man-Tag Champions!
Looks like he’s getting a push now that he’s decided to stay with ROH. It’s about time - he’s a great wrestler and his persona and charisma are just intoxicating.
If I’m not too much mistaken, the ROH World Championship is the first major world heavyweight championship of Daniels’ career. He wrestled in TNA for a long time without ever capturing their top prize.
In other news, there was a pretty big debut at tonight’s NXT tapings;
Bobby Fish, former ROH TV/Tag Champion and one-half of reDRagon, debuted as a heel in a match against Alistair Black. I wonder if this means Kyle O’Reilly is WWE-bound as well?
News just broke that Drago is going to make his Impact Wrestling Debut at Slammiversary this coming Sunday.
Drago, a returning Scott Steiner, Alberto “I’m single now ladies…” El Patron, Deangelo Williams…Dare I say this card is actually pretty stacked! I wasn’t really planning on going before, but now I think I can’t miss it.
