I figure that’s probably what it’ll end up being, unless they hot-shot a title onto Ronda so Asuka can challenge her instead.
Overall, good PPV. For the first time in years the person the crowd wanted to win the Rumble actually won it, and that’s a welcome change from Making Roman Look Strong.
Enjoyed the women’s rumble as much as I could. And by that I mean in my rumble pool I was ONE NUMBER AWAY FROM WINNING $300 (stupid Beth Phoenix) and I don’t like Asuka at all. But lezbe honest, it was a fun time.
Don’t really mind the ending at all because as has been stated here already, the casual fan is way more interested now. Props to ESPN for keeping up kayfabe! Rousey walked out there, pointed at the sign and just as she was walking away I got a push notification about her signing a contract. That’s what Cole was freaking out about as it went off the air.
Rumbles nonwithstanding it was just an OK and predictable card. The least predictable thing was how shitty the 2-out-of-3-falls match was.
Speaking of Cena, I wonder if he got talked to after the Rumble. Probably not, since he’s the golden child.
But both him and Roman down for the 619 and he decides to turn and start talking to Roman, right in the face of the hard camera? There were moments in all of the matches that just took me right out of it because they were such obvious setups for moves (Ember Moon’s Eclipse on Asuka, who had to just stand there for several seconds) and then there was Cena in the Rumble, acting like a rookie or a man who can get away with anything.
The only reason this seems to make sense is, Rousey doesn’t have to go from “never been in a professional wrestling match” to “expected to be competitive in a singles match” in just two months.
To quote a famous song: No chance in hell that happens.
Tag team? Probably. Rocky coming back? I say nay.
Coach just got signed to take Booker T’s spot on commentary (thank God) and the Dudlez in the HoF. I barely know them, but the internet seems to approve.
*They are the only tag team to hold the WWE, WWF/World, ECW, WCW, NWA, TNA and IWGP Tag Team Championships. During their time as Aces & Eights, Ray was TNA World Heavyweight Champion on two occasions, while Devon was Television Champion. On June 15, 2014 at Slammiversary XII, Team 3D (as a team) were selected as that year’s induction into the TNA Hall of Fame. WWE recognizes them as the most decorated tag team in company history, with 18-time world tag team championship reigns, while TNA recognizes them as 23-time world tag team champions.

Hell yeah, they deserve it.
Like them or not, there will never be another tag team like the Dudleyz on the national stage. No one could work a crowd like the Dudleyz and their success throughout the wrestling world speaks volumes.
If you want to see the difference between the WWE version of the Dudleyz vs. the ECW version go to youtube and search “Dudleyz Heatwave 1999.” But do it from home–it’s NSFW and definitely not PG.
I wonder if WWE employs a crew just for rigging ways Braun Stroman can destroy the scenery? At some time, they’re going to have to rig the ring so he can flop it over.
I knew Finn would get buried in the main roster. The same thing’s going to happen to Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Johnny Gargano, and Andrade.
But yes, check out the Dudleyz in the ECW PPVs sometime. Bubba was actually heavier back then, and their gimmick wasn’t just “Devon! Get the tables!” They were scary good.
I saw this idea on a wrestling blog. Next year’s Rumble, 6-8 guys in the ring and Braun comes out at 30. He looks in the ring, flips it and eliminates everyone. It’s a great idea and I would love to see it but the logistics make it difficult. You have the safety of the wrestlers plus the fans at ringside to consider. So maybe he comes out, lifts the ring above his head, lets it crash to the ground, the impact collapses the ring, wrestlers collapse, Braun casually clears the ring while the crowd chants “Holy shit!” Yea, I’d pay to see that.
You, me and Edge will all have a chat with Sir T-Cups.
Thought about it a bit more. Yeah, I’m done with the main roster for a while. I got really bent out of shape when the rumble got down to Cena, Reigns and Nakamura and promised myself that if Cena or Reigns won, I’d even cancel my network subscription.
Having Cena go over Balor the next night makes no goddamned sense.
So I won’t cancel the network and I’ll still watch NXT, but I don’t think I’ll bother tuning in to the broadcast shows for a good while. Fuck Vince, fuck his booking for his own pleasure instead of the fans.
