Good timing between Impact and NXT to have EC3 fired last week and hired this week, even though it all took place months ago.
I liked his promo. He worked the crowd, got them to chant NX3, and did so in blue suit and brown shoes.
And it’s even more amazing to think of just how long ago that was. It was back in, what, almost September that I saw those tapings? That’s a lot of b-roll!
I was poking around in the toy section at Walmart looking for Star Wars toys (they had only scraps remaining) when right across from them were WWE figures.
There’s three copies of this box set that says “Miz and Maryse”, but it is Miz and Nicki Bella.
You can definitely find some oddities in Walmart’s WWE section. They apparently don’t pull toys until they sell, so sometimes you’ll find a doll of someone who’s been gone for months or longer. That’s how I got my CM Punk action figure last year. They still had Neville and Austin Aries on display last time I took a peek in the nearest one.
I collect WWE Zombies. Sasha, Bray, Paige, KO and Seth. They go on my mantle of weird sculptures.
Mandy Rose then?
Her eyes are always dead. As if there is no soul or mind behind them. I can’t recall seeing a single comment from her, live on TV or in the wrestling media that presents her as an actual human being.
Sure, sure, she has a reasonably nice body. But I find her lack of personae to be severely off-putting.

Time for my crazy WrestleMania prediction of the year:
HHH & Stephanie vs Angle & Rousey (although if Shane isn’t able to wrestle, I wouldn’t be surprised if they replace Angle with Daniel Bryan)

Paul Heyman said that all CM Punk thinks about now is UFC. Besides, they don’t want anybody stealing Ronda’s spotlight, even if Punk’s not really there.
Daniel Bryan’s return resulted in a surge of WM ticket buys, so there’s another reason not to have Punk come back. I think it will be at least 5 years before Punk will consider making his WWE return.
Vince has got his announcers creaming themselves over the possibility of Asuka losing. During the match where she tagged with Dana Brooke, it was like this:
Cole: Remember, Asuka’s winning streak could end here tonight, even if Dana Brooke gets pinned instead of her!
Graves: I’m going to make a bold predicament and say Asuka’s winning steak will end tonight!
Coachman: Would Asuka’s streak really end if she lost in a tag match without getting pinned?
Cole: To answer your question Johnathan, yes. Asuka’s winning streak would end if she lost in a tag match.
Graves: Asuka’s winning streak will end tonight, she’ll lose in the Mixed Match Challenge (plug), and she’ll lose at Wrestlemania versus Charlotte for the Smackdown Women’s Championship (another plug)!
Cole: Remember, all it takes is one loss for Asuka’s winning streak to end!
Graves: I know that Cole! I’m saying she’s going to lose all three matches!
Coachman: It’s the Empress’s winning streak vs. the Queen’s championship!
Cole: And tonight, her winning streak is on the line!
Graves: Which she’s going to lose!
which means she didn’t.
I am so desperate for Asuka to lose it’s not even funny. Everything she does annoys me and her streak is the top of the heap.
Please, dear God, have Charlotte win on Sunday (she won’t) and please, dear God, find something for Asuka to do that makes her interesting.
I’m also hoping Charlotte wins on Sunday, but seems like everyone thinks Asuka is a lock. Actually, from what I’m hearing, not many WM matches are considered to be wide open.
Charlotte is going to win and break the streak. I’d say that’s a lock.
It’s also abundantly clear that Sami and KO are going to beat DBD and Shane, which disappoints me. I’d rather see them win and I’d like to see it be DBD pinning Owens. I don’t think you’d see a bigger pop than that.
If that. I didn’t intend for Punk to come back this time (yes, I did suggest at point that they would replace Angle with Punk in the match), but just to tease that he might. Of course, now that I think about it, I can hear the crowd, and the internet, booing everybody involved out of the arena if they pulled a stunt like that.
Asuka’s dominance has been foretold.
I for one see the possibility of something like a double countout - Asuka keeps her “unbeaten” streak intact, and Charlotte keeps her belt.
The only reason I could see keeping the belt on Asuka is because they’ve completely fucked up and failed to properly plan, book and execute the whole ‘breaking the streak’ storyline.
Loved the promo for the new North American Champion belt on NXT. I think the only one I’d be disappointed to see win would be Killian Dain. I wouldn’t have any issues with any of the others, although my pick would be the Dream.
Watching SmackDown opening, my main thought was “which one is going to heel the other”. My guess DB sides with KO & SZ.
I could watch Asuka all night long.
RIP Lucious Johnny Valiant
Whenever a wrestler passes onward, it’s customary for me to relate a story about them.
I remember when Valiant was managing Valentine and Beefcake, Mean Gene interviewed him.
Okerlund: Johnny Valiant, you certainly are dressed sharp today. You look like you could come from Harvard, or Yale, or Princeton.
Valentine: Thanks, Gene I do happen to hold degrees from all those places you mentioned.
Apparently he was getting a bit senile and thought he’d just bump for the truck and then get his mail.
