Anybody else moving soon?

Closing date 6/30. Moving date, 7/1. Eeeek! Already there’s stuff I can’t find because it’s packed. I’m sure I’ve forgotten to notify somebody important about the change of address. The electric co. knows, though.

I shouldn’t be here, I have so much to do. In fact, I’m not here. You didn’t see me, okay?

I closed on June 5th. Last week I had ceiling fans installed. The movers were originally scheduled for this coming Monday, but yesterday I called and rescheduled them for the 30th so I’d have more time to finish the packing and a few other things that need to be done.

Utilities, newspaper delivery, and the cable company (which is switching the service to the new address on July 1st) are all notified. I have until the end of July to have my apartment vacated, so I’ll have time to get it cleaned so I’ll get my security deposit back.

We’ve just bought our first house. Looks like we’ll be moving in August. We’ve packed a whole two boxes so far. All books.

Moving from one end to the other of the 2nd largest country in the world. Movers come friday, we’re only beginning to pack. Oh my.

I probably am moving from Dallas, TX to Phoenix, AZ. I’m excited about the move, but dreading the actual move itself.

I’m in the unpacking and arranging stage now.

My heartfelt sympathies on being at the start of the horror that is moving, with sincere congratulations on your new homes!

Our closing is scheduled for this Friday but we still don’t have the FHA inspection results back. We should get those tomorrow so who knows if the sale will go through or not.

Regardless, our movers will be here Wednesday to pack us up and load the truck all in one day. We are lucky because it’s a corporate relocation package so we don’t have to box everything up. If the sale does NOT go through, one of us (probably me) will have to come back to rent the place out.

I dread the drive from Kansas City to Boston with three kitties.

I’m in the same boat - corporate relocation, so there’s not a lot to do, but it’s early in the process, and the relocation coordinator hasn’t called yet, so we’re basically sitting around with lots of questions and no answers yet. It’s going to be the first time we’ve ever had to both buy and sell a house. I’m basically clueless about how the whole house selling process works (we’ve got three cats and carpets to clean, so it can’t even go on the market until we’re out of it, I suppose).

Basically just pre-move nerves; even though there are people paid (presumably) good money to make sure that it goes smoothly.

Moving from Ann Arbor, MI to New Brunswick, NJ on August 6th. I’ve lived in this area of the state my whole life and I’m not really sure what to do with myself. New Brunswick, and Rutger’s campus particularly, is clean and green like Ann Arbor, but there are many more people and we’re only a train ride away from NYC. Crazy.

Also, I still haven’t found a job yet. So it’s a stressful (but exciting) time.

Another person who’ll be moving shortly here… found a short-term rental to tide me over while I look at long term stuff, have most of my stuff packed and ready to go when the time to move everything comes, and am now trying to figure out just how much of the stuff I need to take with me can be shoehorned into my Miata.

There is a portable extra-dimensional storage space upgrade for the trunk of a Miata, yes?

I’m moving from Illinois to Mississippi at the end of July / beginning of August, and will be working in Virginia for most of the time in between. I’m pretty much tearing my hair out (there has been drama with movers, and all the estimates I’ve gotten have involved WAY more money than I had budgeted). Ugh.

I just moved last weekend, still waiting for my internet to be hooked up but I think everything else is good. Though the list of things I have either lost or forgot to bring with me in the initial move is getting longer and longer. I only have an apartments worth of stuff, but it is still going to end up taking about four car loads and a filled U-Haul truck to get everything moved. I like living in my new place, but it is going to take me a while to get over the actual moving process.

Moving out 8/10 from here in Texas to Germany.

Moving in two months from Boston to Los Angeles.

All of my and HSHGF’s stuff is in one of those Door-to-Door storage containers.

I fly to LA, take the bar exam, fly back, weekend on the Jersey shore, then we drive to:

Cleveland (Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame!)
Chicago (Cubs game!)
Kansas City (Royals game!)
Denver (Rockies game!)
Las Vegas (Gambling! Grand Canyon!)
L.A.
Can you guess who planned the trip?

You do know the Royals are sucking yet again this year, right?

We just heard the results of our FHA inspection–we passed! I’m in shock, the house is a century old so we’d braced ourselves for the worst possible result.

It’s Royals-Red Sox, I haven’t been to the K yet, and my first AL game was Jankees-Royals at the Stadium, so I got a little soft spot for 'em.

Fittingly, the Royals lost that game too.

Oh don’t get me wrong, the Royals are who I root for (well except when I’m rooting for Boston). But holy cow we have been in the black hole of suckitude for a few years now.

I think my head would asplode for the game you are going to–my former town’s team playing my new town’s team . . . . :smack:

I’ll be moving to a new apartment on August 1. I almost feel silly posting in this thread. Most of you are making huge, long-distance moves, while I am moving … 1.5 miles.

I could list all of the bad things about my current apartment complex, but instead I’ll think happy thoughts about my next home (which will have new carpeting and new appliances, including a full-sized washer and dryer). JOY!

You still have to pack all your stuff up and move it. That’s the hard part, regardless of whether it’s going 1 mile or 1500 miles. (International moves excepted; I gather they are a PITA for a lot of other reasons.)

I got a new job in a different state, and they very graciously have allowed me to defer moving and work remotely until I sell my house here. So yeah, I’m moving, but I don’t know when. Maybe next month, maybe six months. I wish I had a firmer date, not least because that would mean my house was sold.

I’m not moving that far myself. But I am moving…everything.

I keep going over to the new house, then back to the old house, and having to reorient myself. I will need to form new trails. At this point I have thrown out more than I have packed.

Oh, okay, I guess I am not quite moving everything. Just stuff that’s too good to throw out.
