Anybody have a Joost invite they can spare?

I’ve heard that Joost beta users can invite other users into the beta. If this is true, are there any Joost beta users here with an invite they can spare? If so, please send it to revtim at gmail dot com. Thanks much!

They’ve stopped giving out invites to Joost users according to Leo Laporte. All you can do is sign up and wait for them to send you log in details.

Do’h! Thanks for the info. I signed up some time ago, so hopefully I’ll get in. My credentials as a software tester might help a bit, too.

I hear the beta invites are starting to ramp up. Anybody have one they can spare? If so, please send one to revtim at gmail dot com. Thanks!

I signed up as a beta tester awhile ago. It took them about a month to get back to me. I’m sure I’ve got some invites, but I’m at work right now. I’ll check back this evening if you still need one.

I would also be in the market for an invite. E mail is in my profile.

Well, I just downloaded and installed the software, but I don’t see any way to send out invites (or I’d be doing it). The selection’s a bit thin, but then again, they’re just ramping up, so it should improve. Interestingly, a number of the channels they offer are ones I’d have to switch to a higher tier on my cable system to be able to get that way. The variety of channels they have seems to cover just about everything, but they don’t seem to have a news network, and sadly, they don’t have the Cartoon Network (though they do have cartoon channels).

It’s also pretty resource intensive. They recommend at least a 500 Mhz processor and 512 MB of RAM. I’ve got a 1.3 Ghz processor and 256 MB of RAM so I can run it, but it hammers my system pretty hard at times. Still, the picture quality’s good on my system and the audio’s fine.

The way to the invites is in the client.

From the Joost forums.
“Invitations are sent using the Invite Friends widget, as follows. Start Joost, click on My Joost and you will see the widget. Make sure that you have not run out of invitations, and then fill in your friend’s contact details. They will then receive their invitation by email, including full instructions on how to install and register.”

Thanks! But guess what, I finally just got my Joost invite from Joost themselves.

Also, as I write this post I see kind lurker Juggler sent me an invite. Thanks!

I tried to install Joost here at work, and it failed because I’m behind a proxy, which I guess it cannot handle. If that somehow used up my invite (which I doubt) I’ll try the one from Juggler when I get home this evening.

Thanks all! After I get home and see what’s what, I’ll update this thread.

Hey, I just got my Joost beta today too, but I’m going to wait until I get home before I try it. If I have invites, I’ll send them out to whomever wants one.

Say… I’d like an invite. Email’s in the profile!

Thanks!

One just now sent your way Doctor Who.

Looks like I’m all set, thanks everybody!

Sweet! Thank you so much, Cabin Fever! I don’t care what everybody else says about you, you’re a good guy! :stuck_out_tongue:

What the heck is Joost? I’m too lazy to find out myself >_<;

In the time you took to make that post, you could have gone to www.joost.com. Or you could have gone to wikipedia and typed in “joost”.

Away with you!

ETA: on edit, I didn’t mean this in a mean way - I just meant… oh fine, lazy, click here <—

Now I’m interested too. Anybody still got an invite to spare??

-foxy

I have checked it out, and I am also interested in an invite. Any kind souls out there willing to help an old thief out?

Ok I went to the site and that looks pretty freaking cool. If someone has an extra invite maybe they would consider sending it my way?

Apparently you have to be a member for a while before you get any invites, as I found the section where you can send them out, but I don’t have any to send, otherwise I’d happily be giving them away.

Oh, and the selection of shows on Comedy Central sucks. No South Park, no Daily Show, no Colbert Report, just crap I’ve never heard of.
