At the end of a poll received today, they invited me to nominate up to 25 people as potential poll participant. I had five friends that I’d never nominated before, so that leaves 20 slots, if anybody’s interested.
Do you get anything for submitting people?
10 points for nominating you. More if you complete a poll.
What’s it like?
Every now and then they send me an email. If I get to it before it’s over, I fill out the poll online.
How often do they send them?
It varies. There have been times when I don’t think I got one for two months. Other times, I get 1 or 2 a week for a month or more.
How long have you been doing it?
7 or 8 years
Anything in it for me?
Everybody gets “HIpoints” for each poll they complete. I think the minimum points for any questionnaire is 30. And once you have 800 points, you can select prizes from HarrisPollOnlineRewards. Or you can save up your points to get better stuff. There’s also a drawing of all participants in each poll, with the winner getting $10,000. No, I’ve never won, but I do believe it’s real.
Is there an age limit?
They have a special section of rewards for teens, so I guess ya gotta be at least 13. I don’t know for sure, as I’ve never submitted a teen before. But if you’re a teen, they might want your parents’ approval. So if that’s you, please ask a parent before taking one of the slots (assuming I get any responses; I’ve never tried this before, so I haven’t the foggiest what response will be).
How long do they take to fill out?
Usually about 10-15 minutes, but they always give an estimated time. Logically enough, you get more points for the longer questionnaires. And if you can’t finish one you’ve started, you can save it to complete later.
Do I have to respond to any questionnaire they send?
No. At the end of each one, they always ask whether you will answer the next one, but I don’t know how much attention they pay to that.
Can I quit if I don’t like it?
Yes, at any time. At the end of each one, there’s a link to take you where you can change your profile. One of the changes is to quit.
How do you submit me?
I will need your email address. No, I do NOT want you to put it up here. Send a message to the email in my profile. I was going to say post your pseudo here, and I’ll send you one, but that would take too long for me to get a response back from you. I don’t want to spend much time on this.
What if you get more than 20?
“First come, first served” I’ll try to check here later tonight, again tomorrow, and Thursday - if I haven’t gotten 20 responses; ditto that email account. If there are more than 20 people, I’ll go by date stamps on emails.
Whether or not I get 20, I’m not going to mess with this longer than 48 hours max, so this offer is dead by Thursday at around 10pm Chicago Reader time. If anybody cares, I’ll post how many (if any) responses I get. Please be sure to put SDMB in the subject line so I don’t have to scan through all the spam to find you.
