Anybody wanna critique my SF short story?

I’m game for reading any sci-fi, especially Doper sci-fi. tjdwalin at gmail

Sorry Larry, your email isn’t in your profile.

And the rest of you, I was just joking about ignoring your comments. Any input is appreciated.

Please, me too! meeblek at hotmail dot com!

Could you send a copy to athelas314@gmail.com?

Ditto.

I’m interested in reading it. I just finished “Childhood’s End” by Arthur C. Clarke, but I’ve still got some SF craving that needs satisfied.

My email is nchumley@mymail.indstate.edu

I’m interested.

I’d be glad to take a look too. Mail in my profile.

More copies have been sent off. Where’s my deeply insightful criticism? What have I been paying you guys for? What’s that, I haven’t been paying you enough? OK, I’ll give everyone a 1000% raise!

I realize it’s not exactly complete; when I first wrote it I wanted to put more plot in but since it was for an assignment I had a page limit. The teacher said story fragments were acceptable, so that’s what I have. Now that I’ve dug it out of storage, I have some ideas about where I want it to go, but I’m trying to get a handle on how good my beginning is. The major theme I’m going for is the utter strangeness and isolation Greg experiences after waking up in the lab. Also, in some ways I’m trying for a modern version of Kafka’s “Metamorphosis”, in which Grigor Samsa wakes up to discover he’s become a giant beetle. Of course I don’t want to directly rip off Kafka, but there’s a lot of great stuff in that story.

Did you get the critique I sent you by email?

May I?

My email’s in my profile.

I’m relieved to hear that there’s more, since I asked about that when I sent my email. Hey, it’s a sign of a good beginning if the reader wants to see more.

Yes, and viva’s also. Thank you.

I’ll read it. Heck, I’ll even upload it to my website, if you’d like.

(dotchan at dotchan dot com, please put something like [SMDB] in the subject title so i don’t delete it as spam)

Comments mailed.

Will you be passing the revised version around so we can get a second look?

Eventually, yeah. I have a busy social life consisting of mining rare minerals, making armor and weapons, and trying to sell them at Ironforge, so it may be a while before I finish.
