Anyone else fed up with Moe the chimp and his "parents"?

This might be more familiar to CA Dopers.

The timeline goes like this:

The Davises adopt Moe the chimp, train him, and treat him like he’s their own son.
Moe nips/bites someone’s nail-polished fingertip (he might have thought it was candy). Legal chaos ensues. Moe is taken away to a compound.

St. James Davis visits Moe with a birthday cake and is promptly attacked and mauled by other jealous chimps. Davis loses a number of body parts–warning: there are photos of him in the slideshow and they are kinda gross.

Moe escapes the compound (a recent event):

His “folks” search for him.

I know where they live. I can remember driving past their crummy-looking front yard (just after Moe was sent away) and seeing all of their crude, handmade signs saying BRING MOE HOME HE IS PART OF OUR FAMILY SIGN OUR PETITION BLAH BLAH BLAH.

I wish they had never adopted the critter. He’s wild, no matter what they say. Hardly his fault, but I don’t think it’s such a great idea to keep pets/substitute kids that are not dogs, cats, turtles, or other domesticated animals.

And now he’s on the loose. I don’t feel strongly enough about it to Pit this, but the day that there is no more Moe/Davis news cannot come too soon. Yes, I understand that the family is heartbroken, but this all could have been avoided.

On a similar note, ABC’s “Outsiders,” airing tonight, will show people who have adopted monkeys as their kids.
Ummmmmmmmmm…yeah.

I first saw this today and thought the owners were idiots. Now that I see the pictures I want to say shouldn’t they have learned how violent and aggressive a chimp can be yet?
